Logan was in the kitchen. Cooking. Because when you were in a kitchen, working with a blender, you could call it cooking. Even if the result was more beverage-y than food-y. It was practically summer, anyway. Perfect time for a cold iced drink. With tequila.

The television was playing "Annie".

"Oh, that I can understand," Joxer said. "Time travel is something I'm getting used to."

"I had a hunch." Xander cocked his head. "So the Willow you met got here just now, but she came from...a couple years earlier in the past than I did. So even though we should be the same age, we're not. But I've got a Willow back home ...sort of... who is the same age as me. If that makes any sense, and believe me it barely does to me."

"Right," Joxer said, his brain a little dizzy. "That makes total sense to me."

"No, it doesn't," Xander said, laughing. "But the scary thing is how soon it will."

Joxer gave Xander a look. But then remembered his secret agenda.

"So, you still know Willow enough that you know what Willow likes and stuff, right?"

Xander eyeballed him. "Yeee-ahhh, I'd say so. Why?"

"So, you might be able to give me some tips, like, in how to act around her?" Joxer bit his lower lip. "Like, to impress her, I mean."

Xander blinked. "Like... in a 'hi, can I date you?' way?"

...be me? was probably not gonna be a helpful answer to that, he suspected. Also it'd sound like he was seriously stuck on himself.

"Yeah, that'd be the idea," Joxer said, fidgeting a little.

"I think I might be required to make creepy threats regarding common household implements at this point." Xander frowned. "Or maybe that's only if she actually agrees to go out with you. Or maybe only girls are allowed to do that because it's scarier coming from them."

"Threats?" Joxer's eyes bugged, and he swallowed hard. "Why?"

"Only in the 'if you hurt my best friend I'll have to do horrible things to various body parts' sense. Not, like, general threats because I don't like you or I'm insane."

"The last thing I want to do is hurt her," Joxer said. "That's part of the reason I was asking."

"I figured. It's just required. It's part of the BFF Code."

Xander ran a hand through his hair. Well... what could it hurt, really? It wasn't like there was an Oz here for this Willow to hook up with. If she liked Mr. The Mighty here, great, and if not... well, there were a lot of places Xander could hide from her in this school. He had the advantage.

"I dunno. She tends to go for kind of... mildly dorky guys?" *cough* "Dorky in a sexy and endearing way, of course."

Which... sounded disturbingly familiar. And not because he was trying to describe himself.

"So, how do you be mildly dorky?" Joxer scratched his nose. "Or dorky at all, for that matter. I'm not up on the local language yet."

"It's more of a natural talent than anything you can do..." Xander studied the kid before him. "I... have the feeling you might have some aptitude for it."

"You think?" Joxer said. "Guess I'm lucky."

"That's a good way of looking at it, yup." Xander laughed in a way that was 99 and 44/100's percent not a snicker.

"So, just act natural?" Joxer asked. "Is that it?"

Xander rubbed his chin. "Actually yeah? I mean even if I wasn't talking about Willow, that'd still be my advice. Would you really want to date somebody who was only into you because you changed who you are to impress them?"

"Guess not," Joxer said. "Thanks for the advice. But... is there anything specific you could tell me? Something that might help with Willow?"

Xander thought back over the last few years, and... well, maybe the years before that too, in retrospect. "She likes people who don't take her for granted? Like don't assume she's tiny and unscary just 'cause she looks...um. Tiny and unscary." He shrugged. "Or on a more practical level, she likes books."
