Logan was in the kitchen. Cooking. Because when you were in a kitchen, working with a blender, you could call it cooking. Even if the result was more beverage-y than food-y. It was practically summer, anyway. Perfect time for a cold iced drink. With tequila.

The television was playing "Annie".

"Did Anders get to meet him too?" Veronica asked.

"Yeah," Cally said. "I think they're either going to love each other or hate each other. Possibly both."

"Hmm," Veronica mused. "Think if they love each other, we could score some boykissy?"

"Not that kind of love each other," Cally said, her lower lip sticking out slightly. "Course, if we secretly teach Conner to love baseball, that might change the situation."

Cally blinked.

"Why am I conspiring to muddle my relationship?"

"Because boykissy is pretty?" Veronica suggested. "And Anders didn't seem to mind you kissing Kara."

"Yeah, but... okay, maybe I'm starting to get a little possessive," Cally said.

"Well, there's certainly nothing wrong with that," Veronica said. "I was just joking anyway because I like teasing Anders about boykissy."

"Well, yeah, me too," Cally said with a grin. "It's just when it comes to actually happening that I think it might not be a great idea."

"Makes sense to me," Veronica agreed. "Secretly? I was kind of glad Logan was sick for the kissy event. Cause even though the idea of him kissing Angel is pretty, I'm not sure how I would have felt if they would have done it."

Especially given what she knew now, but she wasn't saying anything about that.

"So, strictly the realm of imagination," Cally says. "Which is pretty, nice, and totally uncomplicated."

"Oh yeah," Veronica agreed. "So aside from meeting the boy that's destined to be Anders's BFF or mortal enemy, what's going on with you? I don't think I've talked to you since that night at Caritas."

"Took my finals, and been reading a lot," Cally said. "Nothing else big to report, really."

"Nice way to unwind after the semester," Veronica said. "I'm trying not to stress about waiting for my college acceptance letters."
