Logan was in the kitchen. Cooking. Because when you were in a kitchen, working with a blender, you could call it cooking. Even if the result was more beverage-y than food-y. It was practically summer, anyway. Perfect time for a cold iced drink. With tequila.

The television was playing "Annie".

"Nice. The big-eyes routine; that'll get ya every time," he said sympathetically. "Got called to the Principal's office already. They didn't like the lack of a name on the paperwork, so I'm Alec now."

"Alec," Jack said, tasting it. "Do you like it? It seems kind of bullshit, that you can't call yourself what you want to be called."

He wondered what name was on his own school records.

"Probably for the best," Alec said, shrugging. "Most people ask questions when you don't have a name. I was getting tired of it." He paused, thoughtful. "...I do like it, though. It's got a good ring to it. Feel free to call me X5 or 494 still, though."
