Logan was in the kitchen. Cooking. Because when you were in a kitchen, working with a blender, you could call it cooking. Even if the result was more beverage-y than food-y. It was practically summer, anyway. Perfect time for a cold iced drink. With tequila.

The television was playing "Annie".

Noticing another new student, Cameron gives her a wave. "Yo!"

Hermione frowns, but greets him with, "Hello..."

He's not sure why she's frowning, so he just decides to ignore it. "I'm thinking those nametags might actually be a good idea. I'm Cam."

"Hermione," she says. "Hello."

"Welcome to me insanity that is Fandom High, Hermione," Cameron pronounces her name carefully and really hopes he gets it right.

"Thank you," she says. "I have heard about some of it."

"We're helpful like that," Cameron nods. "Anything to be able to break the new students' brains. I take it you got all the necessary warnings on what to expect in this place?"

"I've heard about the gremlins," she recites, "and the zombies, and I was told that Special Collections eats people. Is there more?"

"Probably heaps," Cameron nods. "There's the cafeteria food which can make you sing or do random weird stuff. Also, stay away from locker 327. I think they've got it pretty much closed right now, but you never new what it will do."

"What has it done before?" she wonders.

"It changes from person to person. Zero disappeared inside for days and apparently ended up in the past where she nearly got burned as a witch," he paused for a moment before continuing. "When I got pulled inside, I ended up seeing some alternative future thingie. A lot of students went missing in the first semester and people seem to think they might have disappeared down there."

"That's... a bit abnormal," says Hermione, who reconsiders her statement as soon as she says it.

Cameron grins. "Just a bit. Even for Fandom standards. Oh! And when you run into pets, there's a slight chance that it might actually be a student."

"Transfiguration is that common here?" she asks.

Cameron frowns for a moment. "Sort of yeah. Logan's been a bunny twice now. Zero turns in a cat from time to time. I've been a wolf for a while too, but that was because I got bitten by a student who was a hamster at the time."

Hermione frowns, trying to figure out exactly how that happened. Maybe she'll owl Professor McGonagall. "Oh."

"Sorry. It's actually a pretty fun place and things have been pretty normal lately," he assures her until he realises something. "Except for the part where almost everyone in school turned into young kids and the whole balloon gremlin coming to life at graduation to try adn squash people. I'm not helping, am I?"

"Funnily enough, it sounds a little familiar," she says.

"It does?" He asks, a bit surprised, but listening to her accent she's definitely not from Sunnydale.

"I used to go to a school called Hogwarts," she says. "I went to school with some of the students here. I'm still surprised anyone gave Rita Skeeter a job."

"You're from the same place professor Skeeter comes from?" Cameron asks and shrugs. "Seriously, we've had worse teachers."

Hermione looks worried.

"But they're gone now," he says quickly, noticing her look. Mostly, he's trying not to think about the teacher he met yesterday because that's up there with Ted.

Hermione looks relieved. "Thank goodness."
