2nd Floor Common Room, Thursday Afternoon

Logan was in the kitchen. Cooking. Because when you were in a kitchen, working with a blender, you could call it cooking. Even if the result was more beverage-y than food-y. It was practically summer, anyway. Perfect time for a cold iced drink. With tequila.

The television was playing "Annie".

Rory waved and offered a small smile. "Hi!"

"Hello," she greets her, because she seems to be introducing herself to everyone. "I'm Hermione."

"I'm Rory," she replied. "How's your night going?"

Hermione doesn't even hear the question, because as soon as she hears the name, she's saying, "I was told you were the one to see about getting into the library."

"I'm one of them," Rory said, smiling. "I'm an aide, along with my friend Angela, who just went on vacation for awhile. You know, you're the second person to ask about the library today."

"Who was the first?" she asks, and guesses. "Willow?"

"Nope, Tyler," Rory said, nodding at the guy in question. "I haven't met Willow, though I've heard a lot about her."

"I haven't met Tyler," she says, though she looks in that direction. "I spoke to Professor Tick yesterday, and got a pass. Is it open during the summer?"

She may be a bit obsessed.

"I think we're opening on Monday. Limited hours, but we should have stuff available." She raised a brow. "You're going into Special Collections?"

"I was hoping to find some information about the school and town itself," Hermione tells her. "Considering the things I've heard about, I doubt I would find anything in the library proper."

"We have maps in the stacks, but the good stuff is in SC, yup. I can take you through sometime next week." She rolled her eyes. "We don't let students go in by themselves anymore after these guys last semester," she nodded at Logan and Xander (Harris, omg) in turn, "got themselves lost looking for something they shouldn't have been looking for anyway."

"You can get lost in there?" she asks, and then follows it with, "I heard Special Collections eats students."

"...not exactly. But SC is kind of sentient," Rory said. "It's definitely dangerous in there. We have biting books and illusions and things that will try to lure students in so they get more lost. And apparently a dragon."

"Like Lockheed, or... bigger?"

"You met Lockheed?" Rory asked curiously. "And much, much bigger."

"Yesterday," she says. "He's very nice."

She's going to ignore the part about the bigger dragon.

"He's leaving today," Rory said sadly. And then something occured to her. "You're used to dragons?"

She was going to play it down, but it seems so normal here that she decides it doesn't really matter. "I had a friend who had a baby dragon for a while," she admits. "And my friend Ron's brother works with dragons for a living."

Rory stared. "Where are you from?"

"I went to Hogwarts. Draco Malfoy and Cedric Diggory were both students there," she says, and hesitantly adds, "And I knew Rita Skeeter, yes."

"I didn't know Cedric went to that place!" Rory said, surprised.

"Draco was my lab partner last semester," she added with a slight narrowing of her eyes. "And Professor - um, Ms., since I don't owe her any titles of respect anymore - was my journalism professor. And wow, so incompetent."

"This does not surprise me," Hermione says, a bit haughtily. "She's a horrible woman, and people keep telling me there have been worse teachers!"

"Eh. She was one of the worst," Rory said. "I could have taught the class better than her."

"What did she teach?"

"How to be horribly rude on the radio and turn people into animals, as far as I can tell."
