the roof, Thursday evening

After spending the day both sleeping and being moderately social (not at the same time, not that she was jealous of her roommate for being able to do a bunch of things at the same time like that, nope, not at all), Nadia headed up to the roof. It was too wet to try practicing her guitar, but she had a few brownies left over from the last stash she'd grabbed from Empire, so she sat up on the edge of the roof, dangling her feet over, munching away, and just generally pondering life.

What a good week.

Walter didn't mind getting rained on. Somehow he wasn't overly surprised to find Nadia up there, either.

"Those aren't Empire brownies, are they?" he asked as he walked up behind her.

Nadia tilted her head back to look up at him. "Of course they are. They're a little stale, though." She held one up for him if he wanted it. "How was work?"

He gave the brownie about half a second's consideration before taking it and sitting down next to Nadia.

"Seras came in to take me up on my offer of dinner. She and Pip ended up eating together."

Nadia raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? The amazing drawing power of . . . what did he call it? A really good rack?"

"I think it was something like that." Walter took a bite of his slightly stale, but still-yummy brownie and shrugged. "Although he did manage to keep his attention on her face." At least most of the time.

"Well, good for him, then." Nadia leaned against Walter a little, looking out over the town. "I know that boys sometimes have a lot of trouble with that when faced by a rack of such quality."

It wasn't usually fun in New York in the rain, but this small town had made the rain seem, well cleaner. After his day of exploring and meeting many interesting people, but no actual non-humans, he headed for the roof for some air and to ponder things that people ponder in such pondrous situations. Apparently he wasn't the first to get that idea.

Nadia waved at the new guy. "Hi."

Walter waved, too. "Hi, new person."

Tim waved back at them. "Hi old people." he smirked.

Nadia made a face. "I'm Nadia. This is Walter. And we're middle people. We've been here since January."

"I'm only seventy-six years old. I'm not old yet," Walter waved when Nadia introduced him. "Welcome to Fandom, mind the gremlins."

Rain. Rain was good. Demyx just wanted to be out in it, and the roof was where he felt the most comfortable out of anywhere he'd been so far. He saw Nadia, Walter, and someone else already there, and waved a little. But there was rain, so he didn't pay them too much attention just yet, instead turning his face up to bask in the wonderful weather.

Nadia waved back, smiling a little to see Demyx enjoying the rain that much. She hoped he was starting to relax a bit more now that he had the new clothes and such that he wanted.

Walter waved his brownie at Demyx and smiled. "Getting settled in yet?"

"Getting there, yeah. This helps." Water in any form was good, but rain was one of his favorites; it had been ever since he was little. Surprisingly enough, he did remember that much. "I love rain." He spun around, laughing, and jumped into one of the shallow puddles.

Nadia couldn't help but grin at the look of joy on his face. "Well, we seem to get a lot of it around here, so you'll have lots of time to enjoy it."

"Good. It never rains back home. I have to go to other worlds for it, and then I have to have an excuse before I can even go there." Demyx was truly happy for the first time in a very long time; even before his brush with death and arrival at Fandom. "Maybe it's a good thing I'm here." He hopped from puddle to puddle; dignity be damned.

"Yep. Seems like you can't got anywhere these days without bumping into a lot of people. Well, except maybe the sixth floor."

"Pippi!" Walter was most amazed that Pippi hadn't climbed up the drainpipe as usual.

And the sixth floor? One of the better places in Fandom, in Walter's opinion.

That got a blush out of Nadia, as well as a smaller version of the goofy dating grin. "Oh, not that much. . . ."

Walter didn't even trot out the guitar practice excuse, since Pip had sort of kind of seen through it.

Even if there was guitar practice involved.

So he just shrugged at Pippi's question. Nope, nothing to see here.
