Third Floor Hallway, Late Friday Afternoon

Pup wandered the hallway looking for his Walter. Not the one who had left the room, but his Walter. He sniffed in the common room, he sniffed at the door to room 335, he pawed at the doors into the stairwells to no avail.

He was one very unhappy hellpuppy.

Puzzled, Seras frowned and looked around herself. She could have sworn that that succession of hallways and staircases lead to the cafeteria. But, no.

And, now she was lost. And hungry.

Bugger.

Looking at the door numbers, she noticed that she'd somehow managed to get to the third floor. She muttered under her breath and was on the point of turning to retrace her steps back to her own room when a small dark shape caught her eye.

A puppy?

"Are you lost, too?" she asked, only half-joking.

If a hellpuppy could wibble, that would be what Pup was doing. Since wibbling might not be in a hellpuppy's repetoire, he was whining, but the nice girl made him wag a little. He trotted slowly over to her and stood on his hind legs to put his paws on her knee.

One...two...three......six?

Seras closed her eyes and shook her head. She was sure that she couldn't be hungry enough to be hallucinating. And, she proved herself right when she looked down once more and found herself staring into six woeful red eyes.

Slowly, Seras knelt down before this little creature that, in defiance of all laws of nature and aesthetics, was utterly adorable.

Ordinarily that would be Pup's invitation to give her sinuses face a good lick, but he wasn't in his best form at the moment. He wagged his tail at her and came closer while still looking up and down the hallway for his Walter.

Seras frowned. Something was obviously bothering this little guy. She assumed that it was the fact that he seemed to be lost with his owner nowhere in sight.

Spying the silver name tag attached to the puppy's collar, Seras held out a hand for him to sniff in the hopes that he'd come close enough for her to be able to read it. She didn't want to scare him by just reaching for it.

Pup sniffed her hand and for a moment, forgot his worries to lick her hand. Yum, virgin! He came closer, wagging a little more. The tag on his collar glinted at her again.

Seras gave a small gasp of surprise. Gosh, was it normal for a dog's tongue to be so cold?

With one hand, she stroked the Puppy's small back, and with the other, she tilted the tag so that she could read it.

"Pup..."

Not the most original name in the world, but, well...it did seem to suit him.

"Room 303," Seras read aloud, glancing up at the numbered doors, "That's not far from here. Shall I take you home?" she asked.

Pup wagged more. He wanted to go home, but he wanted his Walter to be there. Maybe his Walter would be there when the nice-smelling girl took him there. That would be the best.

Seras was not fluent in puppy-speak, but she interpreted the wagging tail as an affirmative, or at least as evidence that Pup wouldn't mind her scooping him up and walking down the hallway with him.

She did so, carfully lifting him up and standing, making her way to room 303.

"Lord, you're cold," she said to Pup, cradling him closer and stroking his fur, trying to warm him up, "I hope you're not sick or anything."

Seras knocked on room 303 and waited. There was no answer.

"Doesn't look like anyone's at home..."

The nice girl, on the other hand, was nicely warm and Pup snuggled in her arms happily sapping heat. He whined a little when no one opened the door to his home. There was something wrong with his Walter. Someone had to help.

Seras frowned. She wondered if taking Pup with her would amount to, well, pupnapping. Still, simply leave him here all on his own. The little animal was obviously distressed at being alone, and Seras was not about to abandon him.

She scritched Pup behind the ears.

"Don't worry. I'll take care of you until I find your owner. Okay?"
