The Gym - Early Sunday Morning

Peter had gone to bed early so he wasn't particularly surprised that he woke up extra early in the morning.  

After changing into workout clothes, he headed down to the gym hoping to get a bit of swordwork done before meeting Susan in town.

Once in the gym, he made straight for 'his' practice sword and started moving through footwork drills as a warm up

Callisto walked into the gym to prepare for her sparring match with Aeryn. Nodding to the unfamiliar boy, she picked up a set of handwraps and started binding her hands.

Peter paused in his workout and bowed at the woman walking in.

Callisto raised an eyebrow and secured a handwrap. "You bow to all the girls or am I just special?"

"I'm certain you're very special, but I do generally bow in greeting to everyone - not just the girls."

"Someone's mother raised him up right," Callisto remarked as she started a warm-up drill on the heavy bag.

"I'm sure she'd disagree and tell you stories of how I stuck my sister's hair in ink, but thank you," he said over his shoulder. Pausing again, he added, "I'm Peter Pevensie - err - English Peter."

"Callisto." She hissed and shook her hand as yesterday's bruised knuckles connected with the bag. "English Peter? Radio get to you already?"

"Nice to meet you, Callisto." He winced in sympathy at the hiss of pain and answered her question, "yes, well. There are apparently three of us. And I'd like to differentiate myself from one of them as much as possible. Figured embracing the nickname would help."

Callisto changed to kicks instead of punches. "Just don't go turning yourself into a bunny, or you'll even better one."

Ranma bounds in at a run, holding his umbrella because if there's even clouds in the sky he wants to be cautious. He hadn't explored the gym much and he was happy to find a set of parallel bars. He's not unlike a monkey in his strangely overdeveloped balance and energy. He hoists himself up with one hand and ends up standing on tip to on one bar.

"You're probably the third person who's told me that. And I am most certainly endeavouring to stay away from all rabbits or people who look like they may turn me into a one." He watched her kicking drills with interest. "You're really good. I hadn't seen people who use their feet in hand-to-hand until I got here - except for centaurs, of course." He shrugged.

Peter grinned at the other boy's obvious exuberance and bowed to him as he entered.

For the first time he notices the other people in the room and he looks embarassed for being so eagar. This was the first time he'd noticed the bars. He hops down and waves to Peter.

"Don't let me interrupt you," Peter said with a grin. "I'm Peter - just wanted to say hi."

"You're not exactly bad with that sword either." Callisto shrugged. "Survival is the best incentive to learn new techniques."

She paused and turned towards Peter. "You have centaurs where you come from too?"

"Naw it's fine. I'm Ranma Saotome. You didn't interupt me." He has a habit of always saying his first and last name. Those darn Japanese honorifics. He grabs the nearest bar with one hand and lifts his feet up backwards to grip them onto the farther bar. He lets go with his hand and hold himself up with his feet. "My roomate's name is Peter too. It seems to be a common name."

"Nice to meet you, Ranma Saotome," Peter said with a grin. "It's is a common name. I've been thinking of changing it to Jack." Peter winked. "Which one is your roommate - the other alliterative Peter or Griffin?"

"Griffin. I'm not sure we're going to get along but so far nothing has caused us to fight. Jack isn't a good name. There's a Jack or two around here as well. I'd try something more strange." He's still holding himself there, straight and rigid, hanging off the ground.

"I couldn't agree more - about the survival part. Really, between survival and avoiding mockery, what more impetus does one need?" Peter said with a grin.

Peter had been trying to think of a way to explain centaurs without sounding like an idiot so her question startled him. "Yes? You know what they are?"

"He's not particularly impressed me either. Something about being rude to the ladies of the school rubs me the wrong way," Peter said with a massive understatement. "So Jack's out too? Maybe I should just keep embracing my radio nickname and assuming people can tell the difference."

Peter raised an eyebrow at the foot trick, "Are you naturally sticky or just your feet?"

Aeryn's here early again, this time for her match with Callisto, though she's reminded that she really shouldn't be surprised to see others in here anymore.

"Not much."

"Top half human, bottom half horse. Great warrior-philosophers or mindless beasts, depending on who you're talking to," Callisto drawled. "I've only actually seen one once, from distance, but that, it was something else."

"I didn't pick him but I'll try to straighten the guy out."

He uses his legs to raise himself up and grab the other bar with his hands and raises himself into a hand stand of sorts on the bar, he looks smilingly st Peter from upside down and continues, "I say just make the other Peter's change their names. Why should you?"

"Oh and this is just boredom. You spend a good bulk of your life doing things like this and then you get the urge to do it in your down time without even thinking about it."
