Shooting range, Friday during the day

This is Aeryn's way of trying not to get emo all over the dorms. At least here it's contained.

There's something about being able to wear her weapon here and actually shoot at something that can't fight back that's comforting. It's normal. This is a Peacekeeper standard issue pulse pistol being fired repeatedly and accurately at the special target that doesn't disintegrate when she hits it, though the paper targets might be more satisfying at the moment.

Shooting makes her feel better.


[Open, though I'll be headed back to work soon and pinging back as soon as I'm able. I'd so much rather be playing. And don't worry, she's not allowed to shoot people.]

Aeryn shoots off another blast. "Peacekeeper command carrier."

"Peacekeeper your branch of the military?" Tyler asked. He fired a few quick rounds. "I never heard of that."

"Very few people here have," she says, and might be gripping the pulse pistol a little harder.

The comment about alien technology, plus something about her manner, clicked the, and Ty;er slowly lowered the gun. "Here meaning here on earth?"

She nods, and frowns. "Did you think I meant something else?"

"You could've meant here in Fandom or here in Virginia, even here in America," Tyler said sullenly. "Sorry. Aliens are one of the new things for me here-in-Fandom."

"I'm Tyler, by the way. New student."

"Aeryn," she says. "It's one of those things you might want to get used to quickly."

"I'll take it under advisement," Tyler said dryly, assessing the young woman. "So you're Aeryn? People tell me you're a good fighter."

"I would hope so," she says, though now she's wondering who's saying what. "I'm in the gym most days lately."

"Me too," Tyler offered. "I just got out of clinic, have to take it easy through Monday, or I'd be there now."

"I'm surprised I haven't run into you before," she says. She pauses. "Clinic?"

"Clinic," Tyler agreed, sounding angry. "Did you hear about the idiot who almost blew himself up in the third floor common room a week ago? That's me."

"Yes, that will usually land you in the clinic," she says. "Why would you do a thing like that?"

"It wasn't -" Tyler sighed.

And then started to laugh. "Because it seemed like the thing to do. I was trying to make an explosive and I fucked up. Or -- well, it blew up, but way too soon."

"That's worrisome on a few different levels," she admits.

"It's in the past," Tyler said, squeezing off a few rounds. "I'm healing, I'm not doing it again, I have to move on."
