Stickbug Campfire - Afternoon

It's too hot for a fire, but the shade from some nearby trees and cooler full of drinks still makes the Stickbug campfire a very nice place to be.

Actually it would be a nice place to be anyway because Stickbugs rule.

But everyone knows that.

Jamie is sitting back enjoying a cool beverage and reading a book, but is immensely botherable.

Since she was up early, Sam meandered over in the direction of Stickbug cabin. "Morning."

"Hi Sam," Jamie said with a wave. "Would you like a cool beverage?"

She sat down on the grass, cross-legged. "That would be lovely, thank you, Jamie."

Jamie open up the cooler and tossed Sam a drink. "So Sam, what have you been up to lately?"

"Nothing much," Sam shrugged, popping the top on the soda can. "Mostly lazing around and being entertained by my cabinmates. What about you?"

"Tried out for cheerleading the other day and yesterday I went to the movies," Jamie replied. "All in all a fun weekend. What cabin are you in?"

"Cheerleading? Um, why?" Sam asked, and replied automatically, "Not Meerkat."

"Cheerleading? Well, I was bored. I was also covered in glitter which might have drove me to it as an alternative to boykissy. I'm sure that I won't get in based on the fact that two meerkats were judging the whole thing," Jamie answered. "And I know you're not in Meerkat. You don't want me to know where you live?"

"I'm sure they'll do whatever's best for their squad," Sam said, even though she knew no such thing. "And evil substance, that glitter. I think it has mind-control properties at this place."

"I just wanted to be clear about that part," she said, amused, "I'm over in Seahorse. On the side with Jack, D'anna, and Cedric."

"Seahorse. Isn't that the shirtless cabin?" Jamie asked. "I'm sure that makes Jack very happy."

"Yeah, that's us," Sam said, rolling her eyes. "And it makes Jack happy, but nowhere near as happy as it makes Jaye. Trust me on this."

"I'm sure Jaye is a fan," Jamie said noting the eyeroll,"But are you not a fan? I assumed all girls were a fan of the shirtlessness."

"Oh, I'm not denying it's pretty, but it gets to be a bit much sometimes," Sam replied. "They make me feel old."

"Right. You have no idea what it feels like to be old," Jamie said with a scoff. After all Jamie was a 15 year old mutant with the memories of a 35 year old. Who else would know how that feels?

Sam snorted and took a sip of her soda. "I have more of an idea than you think. And you're fifteen. That's only old to a third grader."

"Puh-leze," Jamie said rolling his eyes. "You're what? 17? 18? Give me a break. You're not *that* much older."

Sam very, very nearly blurted out that she was 41. "18."

"Yeah," Jamie said sarcastically, "You're a relic. Need some Geritol and a walker?"

"Nope, mine's just in the shop," she stuck her tongue out at him. "It's motorized and everything. Sorry, I've lost perspective after drinking way too much last night. Or I'm really an alien-engineered clone of a forty-one year old woman in the body of an eighteen-year-old girl." She shrugged. "You pick."

"Well being that I'm a genetically altered duplicate of a 35 year old mutant who can duplicate himself, I'm saying that it's the drinking that has made you lose perspective," Jamie said with a grin. "Because having another person in camp who is just older with a young body just doesn't make any sense."

"You're 35?" Sam grinned back, happy to hear this news. "You cover it well. How haven't you lost your mind yet?"

"Yeah, tell me about how it doesn't make sense. Because weetiny bunnies make perfect sense, and we wouldn't want to interrupt that streak."

"My mind?" Jamie said twirling his finger by his ear. "I've lost a good deal of it already. Mostly useless stuff. Birth dates. How to crochet. The batting line up of the Yankees. And could we talk about something else other than... bunnies?"

Jamie might have shivered a little at the word bunnies.

"Memory loss? Is that usual with that kind of procedure?" Sam asked, concerned. "And sure, whatever you want."

"Well you know those wacky mad scientists," Jamie joked, "They never have been one to stick with the normal scientific procedure thing."
