Alec dragged himself outside as his hangover receded to the tolerance point, and situated himself in the shade with a cooler full of water bottles. Warm as it was, shorts, t-shirt and bare feet seemed the order of the day, in addition to keeping well-hydrated.

He might also have been rereading a certain romance novel that Z had loaned him, purely to pass the time. But he was, of course, up for interruptions.

Buffy was walking back from town after talking to Susan. She spotted Alec and, grinning widely, approached him. "Good morning!" she chirped happily. "How are you doing today? Reading? Books are boring. Why are you reading?"

Alec looked up, eyeing Buffy warily. He may not have been hungover anymore, but he wasn't quite into cheerful yet. "It's a good book and I'm not in the mood to go jogging. What's got you so chirpy?"

She dropped down on the grass next to him, folding her legs under her to avoid flashing the entire world. The li'l tiny skirt still rode up her hips though. "Jaye was so right. Boykissy is pretty," Buffy grinned at him. "And I got photos! Also, I was promised a lollipop."

Alec snickered, eyes following the line of her skirt a little less subtley than he would have usually done. "Jaye is a conniving woman. Also, I demand a cut should you be making any money from those pictures. Who promised lollipops?"

"The shrink lady promised lollipops," Buffy explained. She frowned at him when she noticed the way he was looking at her, then just shook her head. "Jaye is very helpful. She told me about li'l tiny phones with music and cameras! So now I want one. Do you have one?"

She elegantly skipped the other question.

"Shrink lady did. Okay." Alec frowned, lowering his book. "A cell phone, you mean?"

He totally filed away her avoiding answering that question.

"Yeah. I have, like, this -" She pulled a ten year old Nokia phone out of her purse. "-But Jaye said there are better phones now." Jaye hadn't lied about boykissy, surely she wouldn't like about phones? "With music," she repeated. "And cameras."

She might not be carrying her camera around the next time a boykissy happened, but she'd be sure to carry her phone. A camera in the phone would be totally handy.

Alec looked alarmed as she pulled out the old cell phone. "Yeah, you could get a way better phone than that," he said. "With a camera and music, even. You could probably knock someone out with that thing you've got."

Buffy looked down at her phone then tilted her head and gave Alec's head a considering look. "You think so?"

"...Or not." He gave her another suspicious look. "Are you asking for my help in getting you a phone?"

"I helped you find pants," Buffy pointed out. She lowered the hand with the phone and tried to look like she totally hadn't contemplated bashing him over the head with it. "And tech stuff is totally a guy thing."

"You could ask instead of threatening me with bodily harm," he suggested, reaching for an unopened water bottle. "I could probably help."

Buffy considered objecting, but decided to by-pass it in favour of going straight to the asking. She shifted on to her knees and looked at Alec with huge eyes. Puppies would be impressed, really. "Please, please, please help me find a nice shiny phone that plays music? Even though I don't get how you can fit a cd in a phone smaller than mine."

Alec really was not averse to seeing Buffy kneeling and begging. Really. Even if she could punch like a man and was possibly planning his death somewhere in that tiny blonde head. "Okay, okay," he said, smirking. "But I wouldn't worry about trying to fit CDs in. The music's all in the phone itself."

Buffy sat back down, beaming. "Yay!" A tiny frown appeared as she thought about the music thing. "Is the music thing something I need to understand, like emails, or is it okay if I just smile and nod?"

"For now? Smile and nod. Later you might actually have to know," he said, bound and determined to make her understand at some point. Otherwise he'd probably find himself having to download everything for her.

Alec was beginning to wonder what he'd done to deserve Buffy, honestly.

Buffy decided that Alec was totally awesome. She should get him a present. Which reminded her...

"If all of Dean's pants should just happen to go mysteriously missing, would you lend him shorts?" Buffy looked hopeful again, and had even put her deadly mobile back into her purse. "Not that they'd ever go mysteriously missing, of course. Nope. Never happen."

Alec grinned, suddenly sly. "I suppose, maybe, I could. Do you think it'd be a good idea? Hypothetically?"

"Hypothetically I think it would be a great idea and I'd, hypothetically, totally owe you one." Buffy nodded, solemnly.

He snickered. "Then I think I'll make sure all my shorts are available, in case such a thing should happen."

"Awesome!" She finally glanced at her watch and her eyes widened in alarm. "Oh crap, I have to run, don't want to be late for Archery. The teacher is scary." She jumped on her feet and started to walk away. "See you tomorrow at cheerleader meeting!"

Jaye's wearing sunglasses, just because she really doesn't like the light today and hasn't exactly been able to get rid of the headache. But she also doesn't want to be inside anymore, so she comes out and flops onto the grass. Again. "Bad move," she decides immediately.
