Around the island, then back in front of Flamingo [late morning]

Alec's motorcycle didn't look much like a motorcycle any more. No wheels, for one. And it was kind of, well, hovering, thanks to the repulsorlift engine that Anakin had installed.

With a small smile, Anakin sat down and pushed the accelerator pedal with his right foot. The swoop bike took off with a satisfying roar.

He took it slow for the first trip around the island, carefully listening for anything that sounded unusual. Not that he normally doubted his mechanical abilities, but it had been that kind of a week, and it wasn't going to be a machine for his personal use where he could catch something later. Plus, it would be bad to have one of the new kids explode.

When he was finally satisfied that the bike was in working order, he pressed the accelerator all the way down with a fierce sort of joy.

500 kilometers an hour, even for the short trip around the beaches, was nothing to turn down.

He turned back towards the camp, slowing down to a more reasonable speed, parked in front of Flamingo, and left a handwavey message for Alec.

Nice to see something had worked this week.

[OOC: Open to Alec and anyone who wants to try to wheedle a ride on the new shiny thing...]

Of course Sam hadn't seen Anakin flying overhead, caught the reflection of the sun off metal, and gone running to see what was going on--the fact that she showed up in front of Flamingo excited and out of breath was just coincidental. She tried for casual. "Anakin! Hi! What's going on?"

Sam was pretty close to drooling and couldn't resist running her hand along the side. "This is what you were flying?"

"So, um, how long did it take you to adapt it?"

"Oh yeah," Sam squatted down to get a better look at the engine, then glanced back up at Anakin. "How fast?"

"Amazing..." Sam ran her other hand along it reverently and was already trying to figure out what she'd have to do to get Anakin adapt her bike. She wondered if kissing someone would be enough. 500 klicks per hour was a lot of speed, after all.

Or maybe the skeleton of another bike, if there was one in the junkyard, so she could pick. Hmmm. "What's it run on?"

And now Sam wanted to see what it could do if it was powered by either Naquadah or Naquadriah, damn it. Not like she'd be able to get enough to use it as a fuel source, but wow.

"Brilliant," she said, stepping back to admire the lines in the sun. "So now I have two questions."

Sam flushed. "Actually, three questions. First, will you do the same to either a motorcycle skeleton or the one I've been working on? Second, will you let me watch? Third, can I take a ride?"

"And, um, oops, sorry, fourth, who do I have to kiss to make this happen?" She smiled sheepishly at him. "I also have cash, if that would be more useful, or anything else you might need."

"I do," Sam grinned as she stood back up. "Or most of one, anyway. I've been rebuilding, but now I'm not sure whether I want to let you have a turn at it, or go hunting up the skeleton of an old bike and let you go to town on that."

"Been there, done that, got engine grease all over the t-shirt," she said, amused. "I'll see what I can find at the junkyard, then?"
