Near the path that led to the edge of the island, Alec was waiting with his brand new speeder, since he'd promised Buffy a ride.

Buffy finally tracked down Alec and called out. "Hey!" She was totally not dressed for a bike ride. Pretty blue singlet, short black skirt, boots. Buffy thought it was appropriate.

Alec cocked his head, watching her walk up. "You said you'd ridden on a bike before," he said, amused.

Buffy nodded, puzzled. "Yeah. Why? Oooh, so pretty!" She beamed at the speeder. "Anakin is a genius."

"Anakin did an amazing job with her," Alec agreed, patting the speeder smugly. He cast another look at Buffy, arching an eyebrow. "I'm not going to tell you to go change, but you realize if we crash? Your clothes will be shot."

Buffy's eyes widened in horror. She gave the speeder another look. Was visibly torn, then said, "It'd be worth it. I think. Really, really fast, right?"

Alec wondered if she'd even caught the inference that not only her clothes? But the rest of her would probably not be very well off. He shrugged though, grinning. "Really really fast, yeah."

"Can we go then?" She reached out to pat the speeder gently. "Yes? Now?"

Chuckling, Alec waved her back a step so he could mount up. Looking at her, he motioned for her to climb on, not at all thinking about how this meant Buffy'd be clinging to him the whole ride.

Buffy settled down behind him, beaming happily. She was very much displaying the reason why good girls did not wear mini skirts when riding a bike, but she didn't seem to care. She put her arms around his chest and held on tight. It was possible that Alec could still breathe. "Whee!"

Alec was grinning as he pressed the accelerator and aimed the speeder down the path to the beach. He was keeping the sound away from the cabins and going where he could really rev up, to show Buffy how fast "really really" was.

"WHEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" said Buffy.

He pulled back in near the camp, feeling windblown and exhilirated. Steadying the bike, he looked over his shoulder and let Buffy know she could dismount.

Buffy jumped off the bike. Her face was flushed and excited. "Oh my god! That was so awesome! The way you did that thing... and then that turn and oh my god! Wheeeee!" She clapped her hands. "You can drive me any day! So awesome!"

She was this close to doing cartwheels, really.

The speeder had gone really, really fast.

Alec watched her, grinning, and nodded. "Was, wasn't it?"

"Whee," Buffy repeated, nodding. She patted the speeder. "Does he have a name? I think he should. Anything that fast should have a name."

He blinked. "Name?"

"Yeah! Like Scott or Dylan or Prince the Flying Wonder!" Buffy had a lot of strong sides. Naming bikes wasn't one of them.

"Yeah, except no," Alec said. "It doesn't need a name!"

"Does too!" Buffy patted the bike again. "He's a sweetie, he is. Maybe Fred?"

"No. I'm not calling the bike by a name."

Buffy pouted. "...What about a number, then? Like you had?"

"It's a speeder." He gave her an exasperated look.

Buffy just pouted more. She was firmly of the opinion that the speeder needed a name. So much that she even suggested the name of one of the actresses she'd seen in Ellegirl, even though she just knew the speeder was a he. "...What about Angelina?"

"At least you got her gender right," he said, frowning. "But she doesn't need a name."

"I think she does. Otherwise she won't know that you love her." Buffy nodded seriously.

Alec blinked at her. Buffy, not the speeder, though he really wished there was someone else around for him to exchange bemused glances with. "I... don't? Buffy, she's a vehicle."

Buffy blinked back. "So?"

Alec stared at her and finally threw his hands in the air in supreme exasperation. "Fine. Name her. Him. I don't care."

Buffy clapped her hands. "Yay!" She cupped her hands together, waited until there was enough rain in them and then splashed it onto the already wet speeder. "I dub thee Fred Angelina! May you be speedy and awesome forever!"

Alec sighed and shook his head, though he kinda liked the last bit anyway.
