Shooting Range, Monday Afternoon

Dean got to the shooting range early. He spent the time he was waiting for Peter to show up, going over his guns, cleaning and doing maintenance. You'd never know when some monster was going to show up and need blowing away. Or when Dad would show up and demand an inspection. Both really good reasons to keep his guns in top condition.

It had nothing to do with the fact that working on his guns just made him happy, not at all. And he was most definitely not humming Blue Oyster Cult songs under his breath as he worked

[OOC: for English Peter, but open for all your shooting needs]

Peter only got lost slightly trying to find the shooting range for the first time. When he finally found it, he entered slightly tentatively.

"Afternoon, Dean."

He really hoped Dean had heard him come in and wouldn't accidentally shoot something.

"I think so," he said, looking around curiously. "This where all the weapons are kept?"

"Then I need to visit something first," Peter said with a grin.

He crossed to the weapons locker and looked through it until he found his sword. With reverence, he pulled it out and drew it. He inspected the blade and, finding no trace of dirt or rust, smiled. "And it still feels right in my hand. I'm grateful for that, at least."

"Thanks." Peter nodded. "Exactly. I've worn this sword on my hip day and night for years now. I always feel a bit off balance without it. Rather nice knowing where it is though." He worked a quick form with the blade. "I don't sleep with Rhindon under my pillow, but he's usually near by." Peter approached the guns and Dean rather carefully. "Why is that one your favourite?"

Parker came in, nodded to Dean and Peter, retrieved her guns from storage and began to practice. "Hey."

After the morning's exercise, Alec wasn't quite ready to just sit down and veg. So he found the shooting range and looked through the cabinet for his own gun - cleaning first, then some target practice.

Peter bowed to Parker, still holding his sword. "Good afternoon, Lady."

"How old were you?" Peter asked.

Parker repressed the "bring a knife to a gunfight" comments, and said instead, "Good afternoon to you too. Why the sword? This isn't the usual venue."

Peter looked down in surprise. "Is there a usual for using non-practice swords here? I pulled it out of the weapons locker to inspect it while Dean's cleaning his guns."

"Hmm. You know, I'm not sure." Parker cocked her head, studying the blade, then said, "I think most of the students, aside from Alanna's, have all been using practice blades. Hamlet might know, he was the fencing club rep first semester. I'm sure it's okay to practice in here, I just don't know if there's a lot of room." She re-loaded her gun, thinking. "You might want to ask Principal Washburn if you can have a dedicated space in here for real-sword-practice."

Parker caught herself humming "Don't Fear the Reaper", forced herself to stop, and said, "Nice job on Alec and Jaye. Jack told me they were being obnoxious in your cabin." She snickered. "God, I love the pirate, some nights."

"Afternoon, Alec," Peter said. "That all from the gym earlier?"

Alec snickered, attention still on the gun he was fiddling with. "A pretty, petite blonde door, sure."

Parker stopped loading her gun to cackle for a minute. "Talking purse? The pants I heard about, but that's-- oh, that's brilliant. And yeah, ice-water baths have to be *some* kind of discouragement, if the threat of future vengeance wasn't enough."

Peter grinned hugely. "You think one could? Practice blades are all well and good, but the balance is always off. It's strange enough walking around without a sword, but not being able to drill with it is horrible." Maybe I shall do so. That would be brilliant!"
