Fifth floor common room, after afternoon workshops

Nadia sat curled up on the middle of the couch, watching a rerun of an older episode of AKA (the one where Perth finds out she's actually been sleeping with the evil twin of her best friend, because Frenchie doesn't like figgy pudding!) with her arms crossed on her knees and her chin resting on her forearms.

She'd gotten detention, and her roommate had apparently gone completely off his rocker. And it started out as such a good day, too.

Fishgrenade had a mission. He wasn't entirely sure how to fulfill it, but he had a nametag, and that was a start.

"Have you seen it?"

"Yeah," Nadia replied absently without taking her eyes off the screen. "This is a rerun. Frenchie doesn't like figgy pudding.

"I love figgy pudding!"

"But have you seen it?" Fishgrenade asked again, more insistently.

Nadia gestured to the window. "Good, because it's been raining figgy pudding all day." Nadia shrugged. "And which it? Because if you mean Pip, I don't think he'd appreciate that."

She still hadn't looked over at Walter or Pippi.

"Pip is with Seras." Pippi said plopping down next to Nadia.

"And yes, I've seen figgy pudding."

This Dada thing was harder than Artie made it look.

"Figgy pudding makes an excellent car."

Nadia shrugged. "Yeah, okay--wait, what?" She blinked up at Walter. Her eyes widened. "Why are you wearing a name tag that says 'fishgrenade'?"

"Have you seen it?" Fishgrenade made a few shapes with his hands, all having nothing to do with any "it" except perhaps his sanity.

Nadia watched with both eyebrows climbing steadily. "Madre del dios, don't tell me you've gone crazy, too. . . ."

"Okay, I thought I knew what you were talking about..." Pippi leaned over to Nadia...

"Do you think mebbe he's trying to cast a spell or something? ...We could take him down to the clinic... Or I could just hit him with a chair here."

Would bleeding head wounds be Dada?

Maybe.

It would be for art, right?

"I'm looking for it. If you see it, call me." Now might be a good time to beat a hasty retreat before Pippi hit him with a chair.

"Don't hit my boyfriend with a chair." Nadia leaned back and folded her arms. "If anyone should be doing that, it's me. Walter? Wanna tell me what's going on?"

He pointed to the nametag as an answer. That wasn't cheating.

"I'm going to go look for it in the basement," he said, pointing up.

"I could find you a chair..." Pippi offered to Nadia.

Nametag? Fishgrenade. . . . Basement as up, looking for unspecified 'it'. . . .

But Dada wasn't until Friday.

"Maybe I should get my mallet."

"Can I have your mallet? My pillow's too soft."

This day was going to break his little butler's brain.

It would probably be a good idea to keep a close eye on Walter and make sure he didn't get in trouble.

And didn't they say you were supposed to humor crazy people?

"Okay, honey, I'll go get the mallet," Nadia stood slowly. "Then I'll help you look for 'it', okay?"

"It's always in the last place you look for it." He nodded and headed for the door.

Yep, his friends thought he was nuts. He was probably succeeding.

"Hold on!" Pippi leapt up and made a grab for his arm (gently).

"You have to wait for Nadia... And if it's always in the last place you look for it, then you need to have a way to mark where you have looked. Because if you look more then once in the same place, you'll muck it all up!"

"Um, yeah." Nadia slowly approached Walter, hands out in a non-threatening manner. "Okay. I'll help you look for 'it'. What does 'it' look like?"

"Like it." Fishgrenade reached out to grab her hands to dance her in a circle. He didn't mind so much if his friends thought he was balmy, but he'd prefer they didn't think he was dangerous, too.

Nadia let out a startled squeak.

Okay, so dancing wasn't terribly evil. She really hoped that meant he wasn't possessed again.

Possessed by a Dada fairy, maybe?

"Of course. It looks like . . . 'it'" is going to be a long day. "Sayyyyy, you and Jamie weren't hanging out earlier, were you? Maybe around a bunch of gremlins?"

Nadia took a deep, steadying breath. "Okay, lead on, Walte--I mean, 'Fishgrenade'."
