5th Floor Common Room, Late Monday Morning

After talking to Piper yesterday afternoon, and then the conversation with Lana last night, Phoebe had been more than ready to talk to Cole and see if things went better with him. Then, she had felt him leave the bed and then the attic earlier than usual.

That wasn't good.

With a sigh, she rolled over and stared up at the ceiling for a long time. Something was wrong and they couldn't keep doing this. She got dressed and headed downstairs to the fifth floor common room.

She stretched out on the couch and started flipping through channels.

Surely something had to be on the TV that would distract her.

Pippi heaped strawberries and bananas on top of some pancakes for Phoebe and did the same for herself.

Phoebe understood the sigh and looked at Pippi.

"The yearbooks?"

"I know what they may have in mind for Walter, but thatdoesn'tmeanthatit'llhappento my Walterbut I hate the idea ofithappeningtoanyWalterandI'mevenmoreafraidforPipbecauseIhaven'tacluewhattheywantwithhimandthat'sevenworse."

Phoebe put her pancakes down and lay a comforting hand on Pippi's arm.

"We'll protect them, Pippi. We'll risk our lives and our minds to figure out what's supposed to happen and we'll stop it."

She hadn't planned on adding that last part.

"What if we just make it worse?"

"Then we hide them."

"They're not the type to be hidden." Pippi said shaking her head, "More the type to jump in after trouble. That's why I love them."

"There is that. We'd do that, too. Although trouble and me could cause crankiness in Cole."

She looked at Pippi. "We won't let anything happen to them."

"No, not while we're together at least."

Phoebe nodded. "Exactly," she agreed with Pippi. "We're together in this and we won't let them be hurt."

"Phoebe... It's not just that they'll be hurt. People get hurt all the time, people die, it's not what I want, but it happens. These people are capable of so much worse then just pain and death. Pain and death are perfectly natural."

Phoebe nodded. "These are the same people that created the poor creature in the sewers, right?"

"... and the same people that made the thing that possessed Walter."

Phoebe's eyes narrowed. "I can't give a safe and easy answer, Pippi." That could be because she couldn't even tell a safe untruth. "However, we will figure out something to keep Pip and Walter away from those bastards. Plus, we have a demon on our side."

"That's encouraging." Pippi smiled.

Phoebe smiled at her. "You and Pip and Walter are family, Pippi."

"Likewise." Pippi said as she gave Phoebe a hug.

Phoebe hugged Pippi back.

"Now... we should eat before your pancakes get cold."
