Nature Preserve - Friday - Around lunch time

After roof jumpking activities were finished, Pippi brought her camera and a few other useful items in a back pack out to the Nature Preserve.

She and Seras had made plans to go on a hike and look for animals to film. If they were very lucky, they might be able to be sufficently long winded enough to catch sight of a Teal Dear!

Seras showed up hours later soon after, carrying a handwavily purchased picnic lunch from Caritas.

"Ready to go?"

"Hi Seras! Ya ready?"

Seras nodded.

"Lead the way, Captain."

Pippi started walking down the path.

"We should probably get a bit deeper into the preserve and then go off the path a bit. I brought my minicomp from Leadership and Outdoorsmanship, so we shouldn't get lost... Much."

"Pirates are only good at navigating over water, eh?" teased Seras.

"What's a minicomp?"

"We navigate by the stars... Of which, at this time, there is only one out." She says, pointing in the direction of the sun.

Seras shrugged.

"Fair enough. So, this minicomp is like a really high tech compass?"

"Something like that ya. It's got maps and 'Gee Pea Ess'... Which is way better then a compass. I still got one of those with us though."

Seras nodded.

She took in the scenery as they walked along.

"It really is beautiful here," she said after awhile, "I ought to get out more and appreciate it. I never got to be places like this back home."

"Yes, it's very nice. Reminds me of the area around Villa Villekulla."

"Is that your home?"

"Yup, that's the big ol' house my Papa bought before I was born."

Seras laughed.

"You know, the way you've talked, I think I just assumed that you always lived in a ship or something..."

"Oh yes, I was born on The Hawk, that's my Papa's ship. And my Mama died when I was a baby, so I grew up on the ship. We visited once when I was quite young for a short time, and then went back to sea for ages. Then, when Papa got swept overboard, I went there to wait for him."

"Wow...that must have been frightening, having your dad swept overboard."

"Yeah, I certainly wasn't happy about it... But he's so fat, I knew he wouldn't drown. It was just a matter of time until I saw him again."

"That must be a nice feeling."

"Well, it was pretty upsetting (http://flickr.com/photos/strongestgirl/97691591/in/set-1618571/) when he went away, but when he came back (http://flickr.com/photos/strongestgirl/155992606/), it was great."

Seras nodded.

"So why did you decide to come to Fandom, Pippi?" said Seras, realising she'd never asked this before, "It sounds like you were having the time of your life back home."

"Well," she said getting a little thoughtful. "The short version is that it was time to grow up. The school in the village didn't work out so well."

"You had problems in school?"

"Well, I didn't have problems if you ask me." she said, "They were the ones asking all the stupid questions."

"Oh yeah." she said walking along. "All kinds of useless stuff."
