Peter had his St. George's cross flag close by as he waited impatiently for the match to begin.  England vs. Ecuador with continued participation in the World Cup at stake.

He had run down to J, GOB ostensibly to get some pastries to share for breakfast but really because he couldn't sit still any longer so there was a selection of muffins and doughnuts on one of the tables.

Now for the football to start...

"The opening," he gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek. "How are you feeling? Lots of people have been asking about you."

"Gyuh. Like I drank a shot of tequila with a tobasco chaser. More than once. But I've been worse."

"At least you were having fun last night." He nodded to her clothes. "And you clearly remember at least some of it."

Nadia was pretty sure she remembered most of it, including being groped by Joxer.

"You have to wear body paint now."

"A deal's a deal," Walter agreed. "Argentina had better beat Germany, though."

"Hell yes." Nadia patted her pocket, where her Argentine flag was folded and tucked away. "If they don't, I'll renounce my country and be a Brit."

"Should I get that in writing?" Walter asked, smirking at her.

Nadia's eyes widened. "Um, no?"

Walter laughed and leaned closer. "Good answer. I'd be concerned if you were willing to renounce your country over a football game. Can I get you a ginger beer?"

"Oooo, yes, please."

"My pleasure." Walter glanced at the television to make sure he wasn't missing anything and got up to get her a ginger beer, passing it over her shoulder to put it in her hand. "When is the anti-emo campfire?" he asked, sitting down next to her again.

"Tonight. We have to wait for the sun to go down, I think." Nadia sipped her ginger beer, her eyes widening slightly behind her sunglasses as the ginger woke her up a bit more.

Added bonus, it settled her stomach. Mmmm, ginger beer.

Hm... would a butler boyfriend have thought of that when he selected that as the day's beverage? One might wonder.

"That should give you time to recover. Not that the sunglasses aren't fetching, but most people don't wear them at night." Unless they're- no, not following that thought to its logical conclusion.

"I wear my sunnnnnnglasses at night,
So I can, so I can. . . ." Nadia sang softly to herself.

"Yes, recovering is good. But it did give me some white for my outfit today."

Walter didn't recognize the song, but that was nothing new. Count on Nadia to have a song to go with that, though.

"You fulfilled your part of the bargain. I won't renege on mine." He leaned forward as the ball headed for the Ecuadoran goal and sat back with a disappointed grimace when the goalkeeper deflected it up and over teh goal. "Dammit."

Nice deflection! Nadia thought. "Both teams are playing very well."

"The heat is an advantage for Ecuador, but they're not playing as well as England." Actually, neither side seemed to be playing all that well.

"Well, Ecuador is more used to it. But if England is really a good team, they won't let it affect them too much."

Walter nodded and cheered when Beckham scored the first, and so far, only goal of the game.

Then grimaced when Beckham was promptly ill afterward.

"See?" Walter eyed Nadia. "That's commitment."

"That's a player who can't handle his football," Nadia muttered. "Yay, England!"

"Pfft," Walter elbowed her gently. "It's hotter than it usually gets in England and he's scored the only goal of the game when the Ecuadorans are used to the heat and can't."

"Yeah, but it was really hot last night for the Argentine game, too, and we made two goals and none of our players got sick."

"Then what's Ecuador's excuse?"

"They're not that good of a team?"

"England isn't playing terribly well," Walter admitted. "But they're still winning."
