Second Floor Common Room: mid-evening

Parker's in the common room, channel-surfing mindlessly. She wants a cigarette. She wants a drink. She wants more shoes. She's in a weird, weird mood. What she doesn't want, is to go to Blue Cove.

Since she has no choice about that, she's looking for Z-Cases re-runs.

Parker chortled. "Oh, God. Can I read it? Please? Because that's something I'd like to see, and you know it can't ever happen onscreen."

She smiled sympathetically. "Yes. Sorry. Welcome back to testing Hell. Although the college tour sounds like it'll be fun. Maybe I can snatch some time away at the end of the summer to road trip somewhere too, although I've already visited Harvard a couple times."

"Yeah, if you really want to," said Elizabeth. "Creative writing isn't really my thing, so it's horrifically bad!"

She nodded. "Same here, but only as a prospective postgrad student," she said. Elizabeth grinned. "There were a good few, ah, social trips as an undergrad though!"

"Sure. I promise not to laugh at your writing. Too much. It *can't* be worse than Anders. Which was fairly damn entertaining, if you'll remember."

Parker snickered. "I so need a roadtrip." She looked glum. "And not just a limo taking me to Blue Cove on Friday. A real road trip, with music and snacks and stupid tourist crap."

Elizabeth looked around for something to throw at Parker. "Thanks, I think!" she laughed. "And I'd like to say that it's not as bad as Anders."

She smiled sympathetically. "We'll do that," she promised.

"Yeah." Parker sighed. "Or that Bahamas plan we talked about, way before Christmas. Something like that. Something fun, without even workshops to worry about. Just Cabana boys." She grinned. "Or girls."

"Mmmm, that also sounds good," said Elizabeth, sighing. She blushed slightly. "I have my girl. I'm not looking for another."

"Yeah, can't say I actually want to collect another cabana boy. The bartender I've got is more than enough trouble." Parker made a face, then rolled her eyes tolerantly. "Hey. You're doing StuCo next year. Right?"

"I'm planning to, yes," nodded Elizabeth. "You too?"

"I'm not... sure." Parker tapped her nails on her chair, watching Wolf try to explain why his brother had been taken by aliens for the, oh, five thousandth time. "I'd like to? But Zero and I were talking about an idea she had for a job. That may suck up some time. And I don't want another repetition of last year's fun with Raindrop." She cocked her head. "I'd help whenever you guys needed it, but I'm wondering if I'd better sit out the meetings and planning stuff."

Elizabeth nodded. "I can understand that. But I'll miss having you there."

"I'll miss it, if I do decide not to run. And I won't back out unless we can find someone else in our class who *wants* the job, aside from Alanna. I just feel like I have to give you fair warning." She sighed, then shrugged one shoulder. "Anyway. I may rope someone else into being StuCo auxiliary, if he doesn't run this year. Peter Pevensie seems to have some good ideas. So don't think I'm entirely out of it." She added in Russian, "//And I can always be Secret Weapon, da?//"

Elizabeth laughed. "Yes, we did seem to have a lack of enthusiasm last year," she agreed. "//You'll make a very good Secret Weapon, I think.//"

"//Precisely.//" Parker made a face. "How's my accent? I have to translate for the Russian consultant at my father's retreat this weekend."

"It's good," Elizabeth nodded. "You might want to *handwavey small pronounciation* a bit more, but other than that, it's very good."

"Good." She smiled, only slightly nervously. "//Perhaps more like this, then? I should not be too worried?//"

"//Yes, that's it. Just remember to relax. If you panic, your mind will go blank. You know this. Keep telling yourself that,//" said Elizabeth calmly.

"//Thanks.//" Parker sighed. "After this weekend, I'll have my father convinced I can stay. I'm just anxious." She frowned a little, watching Lana bawl out her partner. "And I'd rather be in Vegas, honestly."
