Second Floor Common Room: mid-evening

Parker's in the common room, channel-surfing mindlessly. She wants a cigarette. She wants a drink. She wants more shoes. She's in a weird, weird mood. What she doesn't want, is to go to Blue Cove.

Since she has no choice about that, she's looking for Z-Cases re-runs.

"We had ghosts take over our school back home, before," Xander says, not sure if this is actually reassuring or not, but it's the only thing he can think of. "It did get pretty creepy."

"But you got rid of them?"

Xander nods. "Buffy did." Then he admits, "Okay, Buffy and Angelus. But all he did was get shot and not die."

"Okay, I like the not dying part of that plan? But not the getting shot."

"I seriously doubt the same thing's happening here," Xander says. "Our ghosts were a couple that broke up; the guy shot the woman and then himself. Mostly they were just sad, and playing the same scene over and over, like a stuck record."

"Yeah, these... they're more into the actively trying to hurt people, I think."

Xander frowns. "But they haven't, right? They've just been talking to people? Seems to me like if they could actually hurt anybody themselves, they would've done it."

"Well, not physically hurt, no." Bridge agrees. "But they do seem to be causing as much damage as they can, just by talking."

Xander nods. "Which is nothing to sneeze at; trust me, I know thanks to certain brushes with going to the Special Hell OMG. I'm just saying if they can only hurt people by talking to them, that's something we can use against them, right? If the people being haunted know that's all the firepower these things have, it could help them fight it off better."

"That's true," Bridge says. "Thanks," he adds, after a moment.

"You're welcome," Xander says automaticallly, then blinks. "What am I welcoming you for?"

"For letting me stay with you, and for not thinking I- um, all this ghost stuff is crazy."

"I'm trying to see where you staying in my room is supposed to be a losing situation for me, but I don't feel like standing on my head at the moment," Xander says. "As for the other one... " He shrugs. "Mostly you're thanking Sunnydale for being on a hellmouth, I guess. Which is a weird thought."
