Second Floor Common Room: mid-evening

Parker's in the common room, channel-surfing mindlessly. She wants a cigarette. She wants a drink. She wants more shoes. She's in a weird, weird mood. What she doesn't want, is to go to Blue Cove.

Since she has no choice about that, she's looking for Z-Cases re-runs.

After an odd evening at Caritas (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/934990.html?thread=37224270#t37224270), Hamlet started to make his way back up to his room when he heard yelling coming from the second floor common room. He popped in to see what was going on--

--and was shocked by the sight of two people he didn't recognize.

"Who are they?"

"He can see us," Dad said quietly to Mom.

Mom didn't even look at Hamlet. She was focused on Molly. "That's only what your friends told you. We're not villains, Molly. We're your parents and we love you very much. We're trying to save the world and because you didn't trust us, because you didn't believe in us, we're dead and everything we've worked to achieve - for you - has been destroyed. The world is in danger now because you didn't trust us."

"NO!" Molly yelled, ignoring everyone else in the room. "You're lying again. I was there. I saw them burn Alex alive after I released that girl's spirit!"

"They're trying to hurt you on purpose," Bridge says to Molly. To her parents, he adds "Whatever you're trying to do, it won't work!"

Molly finally remembered that there were other people in the room. She glanced over at Bridge before turning back to face her parents. "How do you know?" she asked quietly.

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
"You're not the only person being, um, followed." Bridge explains.

Hamlet nodded, still watching the Hayes'. "I ran into two other people being haunted at Caritas tonight, and heard mention of a third. Clearly there are a large number of other people also being followed by ghosts."

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
"Molly, pay attention," Dad said. "You saw Alex trying to ruin everything we've tried to achieve. He had to be stopped."

"Sweetie pie, we're not mad at you. We just want you to be safe and to do that, you have to listen to us. It's not safe for you here. There are ways to bring people back. If you did that, we'd take care of you like we always did. That little girl's spirit was being sent to a better place. All we want is to save you."

[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
"STOP LYING!" Molly yelled. "I don't believe you! Everything about my life was a lie! We read the Abstract. We found your secret hideout. We found your files. I know everything! You were evil and now you're dead!"

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Are you going to believe your friend or your parents, Molly?" Mom asked. "We love you very much. All we want is for this mess to all go away so we can be family again. You could come home. That can only happen if you listen to us. If you don't listen to us again, if you listen to your friend instead, then that can't happen."

[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
Molly couldn't deal with this right now. She was just too tired. It was like making all the choices from four years ago over again and she didn't want to do that.

Repeating her reaction from last night, she squeezed her eyes shut, put her hands over her ears and curled up on the couch. "Go away! Go away! GO AWAY!" She yelled. "You're lying and I don't want to listen to you!"

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Fine," Mom said.

They disappeared.

[identity profile] ihatedenmark.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
Hamlet watched as Mr and Ms Hayes disappeared, and then gently placed a hand on Molly's shoulder.

"Molly? I can't see your parents anymore. I think that they've gone."

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
"They are," Bridge confirms, and kind of slumps backwards on to the couch. He doesn't mention the fact that he's pretty sure they'll be back later.

[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Molly flinched in surprise when Hamlet touched her shoulder, but she did open her eyes to look at where they had been standing. When she saw that they were really gone, she put her face in her hands and started to cry.

[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
"I thought it was just a dream last night," Molly said once she'd gotten the crying under control. "It's happening to other people too?" she asked.

[identity profile] bridge-carson.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Bridge nods. "Lana had someone following her around during our workshop this afternoon. No-one else could see him." Bridge contemplates mentioning the Principal had a ghost too, but figures that's probably not a good idea.

[identity profile] ihatedenmark.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
Hamlet saw Molly flinch and removed his hand from her shoulder.

"At Caritas tonight, I met the ghosts following both Archie and Tyler around, and heard mention that Veronica was being haunted as well. And judging by the type man haunting Archie, I'd imagine that most of the spirits are not people you would want to be around you."

His expression darkened a bit. "And I know firsthand that having ghost parents accuse you of things can be very hard on a person. You have my full sympathies and support, Molly."

Xander nodded. "Seriously, there's supposed to be a statute of limitations on parental suckage, with which I'm not unacquainted. Coming back to suck after death is cheating."

[identity profile] bruiser-in-pink.livejournal.com 2006-06-28 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
Molly wiped her eyes and some of the tension went out of her. "At least there's a reason," she said, suddenly feeling even more exhausted than before. "And if it wasn't a dream that means I can sleep." She slowly stood up from the couch. "Thanks, you guys. I'm glad you were all here. I think I'm going to go to bed now though."

"Night, Molly," Callisto said.
