Marie spent the majority of the day hiding in her room. She was avoiding talking about last night packing for the two week trip to the cabins.

Now that she was comfortably ensconced in Alcove B4, she decided to be brave sociable and start a campfire.

"I want to," Marie said. "But I don't think I'm there yet."

"Don't blame you," Conner replied. "Take all the time you want about it, but I'd kind of like to be your friend again, eventually."

Marie managed a weak smile. "I'd like that, too," she said.

Conner whistled with relief. "Good to know. But hey, like I said, take your time. I'll, um, see you later, okay?"

Leaving the little bunch of wildflowers near her, he gave her one last awkward smile and wandered off.

Marie picked up the flowers and sighed. That didn't stop her from taking them into the cabin and putting them in a glass of water on her dresser though.
