Camp gym, morning

Cameron had no classes today so he didn't need to get up super early to get in some quality training before Veronica arrived. Still, he's already there and working his way through a couple of drills.

Veronica showed up with coffee. She hadn't slept well the night before. She waved half-heartedly at Cameron.

"Morning. I see that you're flowing over with enthusiasm," Cameron remarked as he put down the weights and sat up to look at her.

"Didn't sleep well," Veronica said, yawning. "These beds aren't very comfortable."

He hadn't had much of a problem with the beds, but then he could pretty much sleep anywhere. "Maybe you got spoiled in DC," he commented.

That got him a little smile. "As a matter of fact, I did," Veronica said.

Cameron grinned. "Ah yeah, Archie's a true gentleman," he said as he got to his feet and made it over to her. "I take it you had a nice trip then?"

"Yes he is and yes we did," Veronica said. She looked up at Cam and then down at the mug in her hands and back up at Cam. "I have to put this down now, don't I?"

"Technically, it'd make great self defense if you threw hot coffee on me but I think I'd appreciate it if you didn't," Cameron nodded in amusement.

"Note to self, no throwing coffee on Cameron, got it," Veronica smirked, taking one last gulp before setting the mug down and looking at him expectantly. "Okay, teach me."

"How about learning another sort of kick?" Cameron suggested.

"Whatever you say, boss," Veronica told him, doing a couple quick stretches.

"You know, I think if we're going to go for titles that maybe you should call me Sir Cameron," he smirked as he went to grab the focus mitts.

"Don't hold your breath," Veronica said. "So did you do anything interesting this weekend?"

"The theater actually opened so I could earn some money," he shrugged and moved back towards the mats. "Nah, there wasn't much to do. I worked, I said hi to Angela and that was pretty much it. Things are boring when you're not in town, Miss Mars."

"Working is good," Veronica said. "And I haven't run into Angela yet. I had coffee with Marty yesterday though."

She followed him to the mats.

"Marty the gremlin bait, I haven't seen him yet but by the sounds of it Marty and Angela are both doing well," Cameron replied. "So, you wanna learn a round kick today?"

Veronica nodded. "It sounds like they had a great vacation."

She stifled another yawn. "Yeah, teach away."

"I'll try not to let you fall asleep on your feet," Cameron grinned as he noticed the yawn. "Okay, round kick. Four steps again," he took a step back so he could show her in slow motion. "Chamber; coil and ankle touches your..." he trailed off as he figured she'd see it anyway. "Extend; point the toes this time. Recoil and put the leg down." He repeated the move again.

"Your turn. It's a lot easier to actually kick at something, but I just want to see how high your kick goes first."

"I'm going to end up on my ass today, aren't I?" Veronica asked.

She took a deep breath and attempted to imitate Cameron's movements, wobbling the entire time.

"I promise I won't tell," he chuckled. "We can keep the kick low if you want. You don't have to hit me in the chest, the height doesn't matter as much as doing it right does."

"Maybe low is better until I get the technique right," Veronica said. "Or I'm more awake, whichever comes first."

"Low's fine," Cameron assured her as he moved right in front of her and held the focus mitt in her center line, keeping it a couple of inches higher than her knees. "Try this."

So Veronica did. And she even kind of did it right without falling over. Yay.

"Good," Cameron said, sounding pleased. "Just practice that for a bit and let me know if you want to try it higher."

"Oh," he grinned at her. "I found out yesterday that apparently not the Air Force but teaching might be my true calling."

Veronica tried to do the kick a little faster and forgot to lift her knee all the way.

"Teaching? Well, I can see that," she said, swearing under her breath as she almost fell over again.
