Camp gym, morning

Having survived yesterday's workshops, Cameron was up and about, giving the punching bag a nice workout.

Cameron was getting really good at ignoring that particular face. "Nah, I'll catch you. Come on," he said, motioning for her to come closer. "If we get your stance right, it really improves your chances of staying up."

"So you keep saying," Veronica sighed, but moved closer as requested.

"Which just proves that you should listen to me more," he pointed out.

"So we're gonna kick at the bag. First things first, you need to spin on your feet and put your back towards the target."

"How am I supposed to kick the bag if I have my back to it?" she asked.

"There's this neat little thing that's called the neck that allows you to look over your shoulder," Cameron smirked and moved beside her. "It's not as hard as it looks. Just do what I did. Spin on your front foot, rotate your hips. Once you got your back to the target, you look over your shoulder and kick with the leg in the back." Yep, easy.

Right, easy.

Veronica took a deep breath and attempted to follow his instructions.

The spinning on the foot was okay and she rotated her hips just fine. She even got the looking over her shoulder thing. But when she kicked, she somehow managed to over-balance and ended up pitching forward.

"Whoa, easy there," Cameron said as he quickly reached an arm around her waist to keep her from falling down.

"Thanks," Veronica said, righting herself and planting both feet firmly on the ground.

"You want me to try that again, don't you?"

Cameron smiled. "You know me so well," he remarked as he stuck close.

Veronica rolled her eyes, but attempted the kick again.

She didn't fall over this time, but she didn't come anywhere near actually kicking the bag because she didn't rotate her hips correctly. Oops.

"Staying up is a plus," Cameron remarked, staying positive. "But you should..." He motioned towards her. "I'm gonna help you this time around okay?"

"Okay," she shrugged. "You want me to try again?"

"Yep, I'm just going to help you get the movement right," he said and waited for her to get back in position before putting his hands on her hips to guide her through the kick.

Okay, so Veronica didn't fall over and she did actually manage to kick the bag this time, but it felt weird moving her hips that way.

"It feels unnatural to move that way," she said.

"Yeah, it does at first but it will get easier with practice," he said meaningful.

"Yeah, yeah, I know," Veronica said, moving to try the kick again.

Cameron kept his hands light on her hips, only adjusting her stance when he felt she was going the wrong way. "Better?" he asked.

"I guess," she said. "It still feels kind of weird, but it's definitely easier to hit the target when I'm standing correctly."

"It usually is, yes. Standing up really helps," he teased. "Wanna try it solo again?"

"I suppose I should," Veronica remarked. "After all, if I'm in a real fight, it's not like you'll be there to hold my hips in place."

She stepped away and tried the kick, albeit a little more slowly than she had with Cameron's hands steadying her. But she did manage to complete it without falling over.

Cameron grinned. "See? Easy. I think you just earned yourself a banana."

"And where will I find that banana?" Veronica teased.

"Now that would be telling," Cameorn waggled his eyebrows at her.

Veronica laughed.

"Just don't get yourself killed by my cabin-mates, please," she requested as she attempted the kick again. And hey, what do you know, it was getting easier with each try.

"I make no promises," Cameron smirked and moved behind the bag to keep it steady for her. "I can't believe I risked a month worth of detention for a banana."
