Pangolin Campfire [Tuesday Evening]

Even the threat of storms was not stopping Bridge from preparing for another outdoor movie night. After a totally handwaved trip into town for the neccessary supplies, he sets up a tarp between Pangolin and Koala cabins before once again putting up the bedsheet on the wall.

He's got the fire going, a pile of blankets for people to use, and there's plenty of snacks as well as coffee and hot chocolate in thermoses.

Space Battles, the original trilogy, *not* the prequels, is playing.

Attracted by the sound of the movies across the campsite, Dean wandered over. "Fandom's version of a drive-in?" he asked dryly.

"Exactly!" Bridge grins. "Well, minus the driving part."

After getting a phone call from home, Marie goes out looking for people to hang out with.

She smiles when she sees Bridge's set up.

"Hey," she waves. "What are you watching?"

"Which would be kinda hard to have with the lack of cars." He went over and grazed through the snacks.

"Hi, Marie!" Bridge waves. "Space Battles. Not the prequels, though," he makes a face. "Come sit down! I've got snacks and stuff."

"Exactly. So it's... more of a walk-in." Bridge nods.

"Okay," Marie says, grabbing a blanket and making herself comfortable. "How've you been?"

"Well, this weekend was incredibly frustrating," Bridge makes a face. "But other than that? Pretty good." No, he wasn't going to bring up what Rory had reported on last night's radio broadcast, thank you.

Bel beat LJ into submission stepped out of the Koala cabin and saw the screen. "What's that?" he asked, pointing at the movie playing.

"Space Battles," Bridge says. "But not the newer movies. The ones from way, way back. The good ones."

"Hi," Kaylee said cheerfully when she wandered over to the campsite.

Lucky for Bridge, Marie seldom listens to radio.

"This weekend was scary," Marie says. "Jamie got hurt."

"Kaaaaaylee!" Bridge waves, dragging out the vowel for- no real reason, actually.

"I've heard of it but never seen it," Bel said. "We don't get many movies back home. No cable, either, but you'd be surprised by how many cable companies are demon-owned."

"Yikes," Bridge winces. "But- he's okay now, right? Or he will be?"

"We don't get to watch a lot of TV at the Academy, really. But one of the weapons instructors has a fondness for classic Earth scifi. She says she thinks it's funny how people back then thought what intergalactic society would be like." Bridge explains.

"He's in the clinic," Marie shrugs. "He seemed okay, I guess."

"Bridge!" Alanna waved cheerfully. Faithful burst out laughing.

"Really, really glad to have my voice back?" Bridge grins.

"Alanna!" Bridge waves back. "...Faithful." He adds. "Sometimes, I worry about that cat."

"I love this weather!" Alanna made herself comftorable on a log. "And yeah, you and me both." Faithful continued snickering.

"Really glad to have mine back, too," Kaylee added, glancing at the movie. "Whatcha watching?"

"Not quite," Bridge explains. "There's no one government that runs anything. And the only Empire around is more interested in draining planets of their natural resources than, like, ruling over people."
