Fourth Floor common room, Wednesday evening

Dean was ensconced in front of the tv, plenty of unhealthy snacks within easy reach. On the tv was something with a lot of car chases and explosions. Perfect for mindless viewing.

"There was an incident with a house fire when I was home for the weekend," Conner explained. "I didn't make it out in as good a time as I could've."

Which was true, really; he still thought he could have been a little bit faster.

Dean shivered, old memories of running from his burning house, Sammy in his arms coming a little closer to the surface than he likes. "Everybody make it out?" he asked.

Conner nodded. "Yeah, everybody made it out," he said, and couldn't help the tiniest hint of a pleased smile at that.

"It definitely isn't." Conner thought about the way that little girl had been hanging onto him, and peered thoughtfully at Dean. It seemed like Dean knew from experience, but he wasn't going to ask.

"Our house caught on fire when I was four," Dean explained, knowing that he wss coming off as way more intense about this than normal curiosity would cause. "I carried my little brother out of it. My mom... didn't make it."
