John sat in the lobby, flipping through the channels. He should be sleeping... but he can't.

After a particularly humiliating class today. In which, in class that's meant for making fun of people, his partner said 'I feel too bad to make fun of you now.' Depressing. He decides to take Mizu out before going to bed. The puppy smells his playmate and hurries to pull his master towards him, with a few noisy yips.

"Hey, Mizu. Taking Ran-Man out for a walk?" He pats the sofa cushion next to him.

Mizu gladly joins him on the couch and worms his way into John's lap. Ranma looks a bit worn but he sits down too, of course, a lot farther than Mizu did. "Hi John."

"Yo, dude. WHat're you doing up this late?" John skritches the small canine waggy thing

"Are you asking me or the dog? He's up because he never sleeps. I'm up because I keep thinking I shouldn't be here."

"Have you tried tranquilizers? Might solve both problems." He turned to Mizu. "Yes it will. Yeshitwiiiiill" in that special babies-and-puppies voice.

Ranma cracks a smile at that. He feels like that around Mizu too. He loves his puppy all to pieces. "That does sound nice."

"What, tranqs? If you really need some..." John's seriousness is marred by makeing the puppy go all wibbitywobbityboo.

"Nah, he seems to like staying up. I couldn't possibly make the little guy unhappy." His smile fades a bit and he suddenly sounds more serious. Of course he's looking at his feet and not in John's eyes or something. "What do you do when you feel like giving up?"

"Generally get smacked by my mom. Lately? Drunk. Very very drunk." John picked up Mizu in his arms and started puppeteering the pup, waving his paws and moving his head. "What's wrong, Ran-Man? Don't you love meeee?"

Ranma starts laughing and has to hold his hand over his mouth as it's late. "Hey John that's not fair. You can't use him like that.." He rubs his thumb over Mizu's ears. "Of course I love you Mizu."

"I can abuse my PUppy Puppeteering powers any way I see fit. ANd now, my puppy puppet says that you need ot take Mizu for a walk and get drunk. NOt necessarily in that order. Or tonight."

Ranma groans. "That's not the same..." He tries to stay firm but he has a will that's pretty easily broken in most aspects.
