5th floor common room, early Sunday morning

For some reason River felt compelled to throw kitchen knives at the wall. She made a point of not hitting Proty the octopus or the little fish, and was reasonably successful.

"Cutting through air," she mumbled as she hurled a knife. "Stuck." It hit the wall just above the octopus's head.

"Flying like deadly popcorn."

River spun around and threw another knife.

Fry walked in as the knife flew towards the wall. "Ooh ooh! Throwing Knives at the Wall! I love that game."

Peter may have been on cloud nine but the sound of kniving hitting the wall of the room he was walking into definitely cut through that. "Good morning, River," he said. "Did the wall look at you funny?"

"A whetstone might work better," Peter observed as he went to boil some water for tea. "Would you like some tea?"

"Well, to watch. From a safe distance." He stepped away from the knife.

Peter nodded and set about the business of tea-making. "How do you do today? And did I hear you went home for a bit?"

Nadia had fallen asleep with him as a pillow (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/733042.html?thread=50938738#t50938738) here in the common room the night before, so Walter was there at the start of the knife throwing, but he was practicing one of Alfred's lessons about not being seen; it was early and he didn't want to wake Nadia because he was chattering on.

He did, however, eventually wave to River.

[ooc: Mostly just establish-y while I wait for the meds to make my migraine let me sleep. Will pick up when it isn't 5:30 my time.]

"I bet you'd be great at that game at carnivals with the balloons and the darts. You can win giant stuffed toys and everything. The best part is that they're huge! And stuffed. And are toys."

"Me too," Peter agreed, thinking of Willow - and Susan. He offered her a cup of tea, seeming to remember she liked it without milk or sugar.

"Yeah," Fry explained. "They're like fluffy things that have stuffing in them and then they're sewn up. Like teddy bears, only this big." He stretched his arms out to show how big they could be.

"I miss my brother too. Is yours older or younger?" Peter asked curiously, thinking of Edmund.

Peter nodded to Walter when he noticed him and offered him a cup of tea.

"Younger. As are my sisters. I look after them," Peter replied, disregarding the special Fandom circumstances with one of his sisters for now. He grinned. "Or I hope they'd say that about me."

"Quite possibly worse as I've three of them to gang up on me. I'm sure your Simon has learned not to argue when you've set your mind on something?" Peter replied. His face fell for an instant before he took a sip of his tea. "They're at home. Where their duty lies."
