Fourth Floor common room, Sunday morning

Bel awoke with a groan. The common room couch really wasn't big enough for him to sleep comfortably, so he'd tossed and turned all night. Wait -- why was he sleeping on the couch instead of going back to his room? He vaguely remembered not having his keys, but when he checked his pocket, he found them there. So why had he slept on the couch?

Then it all started coming back to him.

He sat up and held his head in his hands, groaning some more. Gremlins must die.

"I was so touched that you *trusted* me, Bel." Parker contrived to look woeful to a degree that *might* fool Blair. Or not. "With this important work."

"Parker." Blair turned and shook his head. "That stuff is supposed to be a secret, please don't spread it around. It wasn't really Bel's secret to tell."

Parker nodded seriously, but her eyes were glinting. "It's very noble work, getting the sex workers out of the Life. I know that they might have... issues with it, though." She looked thoughtful, and said conversationally, "You know, my boyfriend works as a receptionist at the Sin."

Blair reached forward to pat Parker's shoulder. "I'm sorry about that, man. I'll see what Becky can do about getting him out of there too."

Okay, Parker was *so* close to losing it. But she ducked her head, hoping he'd think the lip-trembling was from woe, not hysteria.

"I've tried to tell him he's better than that," she said sadly. "He's got the other job at Caritas. But he says he likes living there, they've been good to him. Maybe you and Bel can ask him to help? That might convince him it's time to leave the girls, if they're getting a Second Chance."

Parker put as much reverence as she could on that, and shot an evil, evil smile at Bel.

"I'll do my best, Parker. How long has he been sleeping with people for money? Is that how you two met?"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker's amusement took an abrupt nose-dive.

"He's. The. Receptionist." She glared at him, voice dropping to a growl. "And he never slept with anyone before--" She stopped herself. "We met when I was *nine*, for Christ's sakes! I just don't want him to live there any more!"

"I asked Becky and she said that everyone who works at the Sin is a hooker. She said they don't have non-hooker assistants." Blair said seriously. "I asked."

Parker sent Bel a much-less-than-amused look, then her eyes glinted again. "If you can transport the sex workers to Angel for rehab. Suuuure." Her lips lifted. "This is all depending on you, Bel."

Then she glared at Blair. "Becky's right. But he's not an 'assistant'. That's something entirely different. He's the receptionist. And anyone who says otherwise is getting broken bones."

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm pretty sure Becky meant him too." Blair muttered and then turned to Bel. "Angel is helping? That's so awesome!"

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, but Angel would be so *sad* if we didn't ask for his help. I know he misses you too, Bel. And Blair. And he *likes* nuns." Parker sent Blair another look, then snarkily said, "Why don't you *ask* him? It's not like he's got any shame. If he were having sex for money, he'd just tell you."

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Did you hear the part about this being a secret, Parker? I can't go spilling the beans about the plan with someone who might not agree. I'll talk with Becky and see if he's safe first." Blair bounced. "I don't want him reporting her to the hookers union or something like that."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sex workers union," Parker corrected him automatically. "Names are important, Blair." Then she facepalmed. "I so need to have a talk with Sister Becky. And Sister Miho." Because if they didn't kill Blair? They were definitely going to kill *her*.

Parker blinked at Bel, then rolllled her eyes. "He misses everyone," she said repressively. "Including you, yes. I know he hopes you're doing well without him." Since you already have a girlfriend, and all. Her lips twitched again. "If you brought him a prezzie of prospective nuns, that might make him even happier to see you, of course."

[identity profile] lovechildblair.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"People are not presents!" Blair yelled. "This isn't a game, Parker, it's people's lives. And don't tease Bel about Angel. It's not very nice."

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-30 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker's eyes narrowed. "Precisely. The pleasure of their company alone, Blair. I am the *last* person to look on someone else as a present." Her lips twitched again. "And an interdimensional railroad for them would get them far away from their current conditions, wouldn't it?"

Becky's going to kill me. Miho's going to gut me, and Becky's going to *kill* me....
