Bel lounged on the couch in the common room, flipping through the channels on the TV. Daytime TV sucked. Not enough blood and explosions.

Dawn giggling. "He was an interesting Phoebe, though, wasn't he?"

"Oh, definitely. Though, as Hamlet, I wasn't necessarily all that interested in talking to him. Her. Whatever."

"I missed that." She pulled her knees up under her chin. "You okay?"

"Planning to hide in my room all next weekend and hope for a normal one, but, yeah, I'm okay."

"A normal weekend? Around here?" Dawn was a little disbelieving that such a thing was possible. "And why are you hiding?"

"They've been known to happen, on occasion, at least. And hiding means that if I do happen to turn into a gremlin again, or think I'm someone else, or grow bunny ears and develop a taste for grass, or whatever, no one else will see it."

"But if you're a bunny, how are you going to get to the grass if you're hiding in your room?"

"I'll send my cat out for it."

Dawn looked at her funny. "You have a cat that follows orders? And doesn't eat bunnies?"

". . . Sometimes?"

"You sometimes have a cat, or he sometimes follows orders?" Dawn figured it was good to be specific.

"The orders one."

"Wow. Also impressive. Did you bring him, or her, I guess, I don't know why I assumed your cat was a he," Dawn babbled, "did you bring your cat with you from home?"

"Nope. I found him in New York when we went with Lorne. Um, Lorne being the green man who used to run Caritas."

"Oh, I met him right before he left town," and Dawn didn't even think they were connected, which was especially nice, "and I sang, and there was advice giving. Did you like New York?"

"Yeah, he was good at that. He's the one who told me I had a sister at school. And New York was very cool."

"You have a sister? Who is she?" Dawn asked. "I've never been to New York, but it's on the list."

"Sydney Bristow. She left for the summer."

"Is it weird, finding out you've got a sister you didn't know about?" Dawn watched Nadia. "Do you miss her?"

"It was weird finding out that my father was still alive and probably evil and willing to use me in horrible ways to further his own agenda. Finding out my older half-sister was the girl who was always willing to help me out in shop class or languages class? Weird, but I think it was harder for her than it was for me. And yeah. We weren't super close, but I'll be happy when she gets back."

Dawn blinked. "Evil?"

"He came to town, kidnapped me, drugged me, and then left."

"Whoa." Wow, someone whose life might be worse than hers. "I'm sorry. That just...sucks. Are you okay now?"

[nadiathesaint]

"Yeah. It's been awhile, and he hasn't tried to come back or anything. And a lot of people have said they'd help me, if he did."

"I don't know how helpful I'd be unless you have an ancient prophecy that needs translating, but you can count me in, too," Dawn offered in a move that would very probably make everyone she knew headdesk to hear it.
