Fifth floor common room, Thursday afternoon (after workshops)

Nadia lay stretched out on the floor of the common room, an episode of some show about ghost hunters playing on the TV behind her. She was pretty damned sore from over doing it again in the gym yesterday, so figured that today would be the perfect day to get back to work on her adventure story, which she hadn't worked on in far too long.

When last we left our heros, they'd just jumped into the water after the lovely siren maiden Phillipa. . . .

And now she got to get to the really good part.

[ooc: open. work is about as slow as it has ever been. Adventure story is on a linked, back-dated post to spare the comm from the melodrama. The link is nonexplicit and work safe, just not terribly well written. ;D]

Walter and Pup came upstairs to see Nadia after playing out on the lawn for a while. Which meant attack of the wound-up hellpuppy with wet paws. Whee!

Nadia was never so happy she had been issued a ToughBook laptop as when Pup's paws landed squarely on her keyboard before he pounced her.

"Eep! Pup! Pup, calm--ewwww--yes, hi Pup, please don't--that's my nose!"

Oh yes, a dead on attack for the nose. Walter gave Pup a moment to make Nadia squirm before plucking him off of her and holding out a fresh handkerchief.

"Hey."

Nadia accepted the handkerchief and dried her face off with all the dignity one could muster when one has just been pounced and had one's ~~nostrils~~ face licked by a hellpuppy while one was lying on the floor writing ~~pr0n~~ an epic adventure story.

"Hey yourself."

The handkerchief that was handed back was less fresh and rather damp.

Walter draped the handkerchief over Pup's head and grinned while he watched the puppy try to paw it off of his face.

"I went fishing in my underwear today," he offered as a rather peculiar conversational opener.

Nadia glanced at her story and stopped just short of asking "how'd you know?"

Instead she went with "And I missed it?"

"You aren't in Wilderness Survival."

He made a little congratulatory sound at Pup when he managed to get the handkerchief off his head. "Good boy. Now be good."

He set the sodden cloth on the window sill to dry out and sat on the arm of the couch next to Nadia. "What have you been doing today?"

Nadia shrugged, saving her document and minimizing the screen. "Not much. Talked to Cally this morning, went to sex ed, then came back to get some writing done. How was fishing?"

Walter was definitely curious about seeing more of her writing, but respected her privacy. For the moment.

"I stuck a fish with a stick, made my own fire, seasoned it with sea salt - the fish, not the fire - and ate it. I feel very pioneering."

"How very ~~brutish~~ ~~hot~~ self-sufficient of you. I bet the fish never stood a chance."

No way in hell was she letting him read that story. She'd never, ever live it down.

"Not really, no," Walter answered without a trace of modesty. "How was Sex Ed?"

"Life size diagrams and things that vibrate. I got to tease Pip." And worked out a potential scene for her story. "Not in a dirty way. The teasing. Oral only."

Oh, hey, was that the right word?

Walter blinked several times. "You teased Pip orally but not in a dirty way?"

"Yes?"

More blinking and then, epiphany. "Verbally! You teased Pip with words."

He snickered a little before saying, "Teasing him orally is more like something you would learn in Sex Ed, but I'd rather you not do with him. Pippi would be pissed."

"Verbally. Right. Verbal. Like verb, which is a kind of word." Nadia shrugged. "Oral is the ears, then, right?"

Walter snickered again and shook his head. "I think that's aural," he exaggerated the pronunciation difference. "Which sounds almost the same. Oral's with your mouth. It's just that if you talk about orally teasing Pip in Sex Ed, it sounds like something you'd learn how to do in Sex Ed."

Nadia nodded slowly, blinking, as she processed this information and made a few mnemonics to remember it. Then the look of thoughtful confusion cleared up for a moment as realization of something dawned and her face went blank.

"Ah."

Pippi would totally have killed her.

"Yes." Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending, Walter had decided the best response to this little mixup was to continue snickering and attempt to slide Nadia's laptop out of the way so he could slide into her lap instead.

Nadia was . . . well, she was still staring somewhat blankly into space, until that laptop started sliding.

Then she reached out sharply to shut the laptop and hide any incriminating evidence that might be on it. "No reading!"

Wait, what was Walter. . . . Ohhhhhh.

"Must be something good if you're that protective," Walter said and kept sliding off the arm of the couch. "Plans for world domination by the women? You're not planning on filling Fandom's water supply with sex change potion, are you?"

"It's bad. It's very bad. And I don't have a sex change potion. And didn't we agree that conquering the world would actually suck?"

She was remarkably eloquent for the fact that a good half her brain was occupied going "boyonlapboyonlapboyonlapyay!"

"It would. Power behind the throne is the only way to go. Fewer poisonings and assassinations attempts and bothersome supermarket openings."

And being the sitter, rather than the sittee was an interesting change of pace. One that brought his smiling face rather close to Nadia's.

boyonlapboyonlapboyonlapboyonlap, sang Nadia's brain.

"Uh-huh. You're on my lap."

Closer to Nadia's big, doofy grin.

"Should I move?"

Such a cute, big, doofy grin.
