Fourth Floor Common Room; Thursday, Noonish.

While handwavily spending the morning down in the salle for some training, Sakurazaki thought that she'd like to do something nice for everyone before she left. So she was going to try the whole make-a-bunch-of-food-for-everyone-who-comes-in thing. Unfortunately, her cullinary abilities were pretty abysmal, and she had a feeling that sushi might turn a few remembering stomach. So it was peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. But they were very nice peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and sliced rather perfectly, some without crusts, even. And she'd also arranged a pretty impressive fruit platter. Because fruit was always good.

But the best part of it was the one thing she'd learn to make very well without assistance: brownies. Plenty of plates of brownies (also perfectly sliced) that she would give her honourable word as a samurai would not turn anyone into someone else, or a panda, or any other such bizarre occurance.

[[ ooh, my first free food offering! Open, of course! ]]

Hungry after Monologuing but not in the mood to brave the cafeteria, Conner decided to prowl the dorms in search of anyone who might be doing that whole free-food thing today. He was quite pleased to discover that he only had to stray one floor past his own to luck out in that regard.

"Sakurazaki!" he said cheerfully. "That is one sweet-looking fruit arrangement there."

"Sweeeeeeeet. Thanks! Sandwiches too?" he asked hopefully, already eyeing the brownies as well as he tried his best to help himself without completely demolishing the arrangement. As he was a hungry teenage boy, unfortunately, his best in that regard wasn't what it could have been.

At least he had the grace to look halfway apologetic about that.

"And it really looks great." Conner took a hearty bite out of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, promptly got his jaws stuck together, and went through several amusing facial contortions before he finally got unstuck and could speak again (after swallowing, of course). "You know, sometimes you just need a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich. They're classic. There's something comforting about that."

"It's okay," Conner reassured her quickly, laughing. "I'm actually not a big fan of milk with my PB-and-J. Peanut butter's a challenge. I like that. Plus, a few grapes will wash it down just fine."

"Watermelon definitely works." To prove it, Conner took several slices of watermelon and proceeded to wolf them down after his next bite of sandwich. "Healthy too, see?"

[OOC: Must go to lunch -- AFK for 30, sorry. :(]

Conner, on the other hand, felt that brownies stood perfectly well on their own. He also felt another sandwich was in order, and helped himself to one. "So how've things been with you lately? I haven't talked to you much since way back when we were in the cabins."

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good to hear." Conner had plowed through a third sandwich faster than he cared to admit and was now staring between the sandwiches and the fruit, engaged in a furious mental debate. "Get back? You going on a trip?"

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Stuff to take care of at home?" Conner guessed, nodding. Remembering his own trip home a few weeks ago, he chuckled softly and added, "I hope it's fun and interesting, but not in a crazy kind of way."

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"And I just got sneak-attacked a bunch of times by my brother, and botched a soccer tryout." Conner didn't mention why. Especially this long after the fact, it would just seem like bragging. "Sounds like they'll be glad to see you. What's going on Saturday that you have to build up for?"

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
And a universal gesture it was. Conner grinned as he started in on a brownie. "Surprises are good, sometimes. Do they seem more or less crazy now that you've been here?"

If it was more, Conner was going to be very, very intrigued by these friends of hers.

Conner? Would be so totally pleading the Fifth on that. And entertaining mental images of Kira whapping him over the head with her guitar once she registered the glazed look in his eyes. This would be why he was eating his brownie with fierce, deliberate slowness while he thought about hundred-foot-long carnivorous slugs.

Yum.

"Nobody here is average," he said with an emphatic nod. "But I'm starting to think of the kids at my old school as the weird ones, because at least here when unusual things happen, we don't pass it off as some kind of group hallucination. Whenever I leave here, I'm never going to think of 'normal' the same way again."

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm . . . good, actually." It was Conner's turn to have to think about that, over a new slice of watermelon, before he answered. "Been taking it easy lately, but I'm good. I can't believe the summer's almost over, though."

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Tell me about it," Conner replied. "Seems like we were just getting here ourselves and hearing all about the weird things that go on here, and before we know it we're going to be the ones telling the newbies all about it."

He tossed a grape up into the air, caught it in his mouth, and sighed. "Senior year all over again. Maybe it'll be more interesting this time."

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Conner nodded ruefully. "I should've graduated last year, but an entire year of my school transcripts got lost somehow. I'll bet anything Principal Randall fed them to a Tyrannodrone -- back when she was evil, I mean, since she's not any more -- but nobody would buy that, so I get to repeat. And it was less embarrassing to have to do that somewhere other than Reefside."

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't know. I'd be kind of sorry if it did. There's too much interesting stuff happening here, and I'd hate to miss out on all of it because time went by too fast," Conner mused. "I used to be mad about it, but now . . . I don't mind, really. If classes here are anything like the workshops, they'll be way different from anything I took before. It'll be an adventure!"

[identity profile] connernotconnor.livejournal.com 2006-08-17 10:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Conner grinned. "It's either that or resent it. And resentment takes too much effort."

John, with the unfailing sense of mooch smell, found something tickling his senses that was great and free. So, he popped in for the best food of all: free food.

Cooked up by McNinjaPants.

"Heya."

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2006-08-19 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"You're going away? Long weekend type thing or... permanently?"

[identity profile] apocalypsesoon.livejournal.com 2006-08-19 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
"So you're coming back. Good. Guess I don't have to sell your stuff online after all." He grinned.

And, to prove that he is!not!gay!especially for Ranma, he totally makes out with her right then and there, making her toes curl and a funny feeling happen in her Ninjapants.
