Outside The Dorms, Thursday Afternoon

In an attempt to enjoy the day, Janet had dragged a blanket outside, on the dorm grounds, and was laying down on it, making notations in a binder. She had a covered pitcher of lemonade and a filled glass next to it that she was slowly drinking.

After leaving the salle, Peter was heading down to town when he saw Janet. "Afternoon!" he called. "I was just thinking that I wished to find you."

Janet waved at Peter and smiled. "Hey, Peter!" she exclaimed, putting her pen down and sitting up.

"How do you do?" Peter asked. He glanced at her binder with amusement. "Already doing homework then?"

"Actually, it's more of my own research project," said Janet. She glanced down at the page of diagrams and chemical equations. "It's not for credit. It's been keeping me occupied as my excuse when RL hits most of the summer."

"At least you're finding it interesting," Peter replied with a smile. "It occupies you when cheerleading doesn't?"

"To be honest, it occupies most of my attention," said Janet, closing up her binder. "More than cheerleading does, though that takes a lot of time. What's been keeping you busy this summer?"

Peter grinned. "The way they were throwing you in the air, it certainly looked like you practiced quite a bit. I've been about. Focusing on my own swordwork and teaching Willow, waking Parker up at dawn to go running, trying to prevent Callisto from taking all the clothing during workshops. It's been an interesting summer."

"Interesting can be a good thing," said Janet, smiling back. "How are things going with Willow?"

"Very well," Peter replied, fighting a blush mostly successfully. "She's lovely as always. But speaking of lovely girls, I'd hoped to run into you. Su's birthday is Saturday, and I was planning a birthday picnic for her on Sunday. I wanted to invite you to come?"

"You're far too charming for anyone's good," said Janet, blushing faintly at the compliment. "I'd love to be there. I have two questions, though: Is it all right if I bring Liz, and is there anything in particular Susan would want for a gift?"

OOC: I must go pick my kidlet up from day care, then run a couple errands, and then come home and make dinner. SP until after the kidlet's bedtime, say, 7:30 or 8:00 CST?

"Why thank you," Peter said with a grin at Janet. "And please do bring Elizabeth. I was hoping she'd be able to come as well. Susan says she doesn't want anything, but I can't imagine her turning down a book or something small like that."

"Liz and Willow had better watch out," said Janet, dissolving into giggles. "Seriously, though, it won't be tough to drag Liz along. I don't know if she's ever met Susan more than in passing, but I'm sure they'd get along."

"I think you're right, they would," Peter replied, smiling. "And I've been meaning to introduce Elizabeth and Willow. But if you know anyone else who'd enjoy a picnic or knows Su, please do invite them. The more the merrier really."

"Willow and Liz will probably get along very well. I think Dr. Jackson and she are neighbors," said Janet. "And he's from my old school. If he's back in town, I'm sure he'd like to go. I don't know any other teachers she's close to, though."

"Miss Calendar she mentioned," Peter said. "But she's been out of town so I don't know if she'd be back in town. And I was thinking I might invite Dr. Reid. I don't think she knows too many people yet."

"Maybe she can call or something. Dr. Reid sounds familiar. Does she teach the First Aid seminar?" asked Janet. She glanced down at her lemonade, then reached into her backpack and pulled out a plastic bag with some paper cups. "And I'm being completely rude. Did you want some lemonade?"

"She did indeed," Peter agreed. "She apparently has a fixation for badgers because they were in almost every class. But she's very sweet." He smiled hugely. "Oh, not rude at all, but I'd love some lemonade."

Elizabeth had her nose buried in a book as she came out of the dorms. Glancing up and spotting Janet, she smiled widely. "Ciao, il mio amore. Come siete?" she asked, half-closing her book.

"Badgers?" Janet gave Peter a very confused look as she poured out a glass of lemonade and held it out to him. "That's weird. I'm glad we have a First Aid teacher, though. It's a very useful subject."

Janet beamed as she put her pen down. "I got the first part of that, but I have no idea what the second sentence meant," she said, turning so that she was laying on her side. She reached out and patted a spot on the blanket. "Come and keep me company?"

"Sempre," grinned Elizabeth, lowering herself to the ground and leaning forward to kiss Janet softly. "How are you?"

Peter shrugged and put his hands up. "Don't ask me. I have no idea." He accepted the lemonade with a nod of thanks. "I am glad I took her workshops this summer certainly. She'll be holding a workshop for the new students as well next week. Perhaps it shall be useful for them."

"Right out in public and everything," murmured Janet, blushing faintly. Then, louder, "Better now that you're here. Having a good day?"

"Also better now that I'm here with you," said Elizabeth, smiling sappily.

Janet sipped at her lemonade. "Everyone should learn the basics of first aid," she said firmly. "At least CPR. I've always believed that. Are you looking forward to the new semester?"
