Roof, Friday lunchtime

Blair had spent the morning meditating and felt better. Or it could be because of the phone message that Phoebe left him. But either way, he wanted to spend some time doing something fun.

He took his guitar up to the roof and was playing music. In the loosest definition of the word.

Pip is attracted to guitar playing. Like a moth to a flame.

He usually brings his guitar with him.

"Hey, Pip." Blair strummed out his version of three blind mice on the guitar and totally ignored the fact that it sounded nothing like what it was supposed to. "Wanna jam?"

Pip tried not to wince. "Been playing long?"

"Not very long. Taught myself, man. What do you think?" Blair bounced.

Pip gritted his teeth. "Well... good job teaching yourself. Would you like some more instruction?"

"Thanks, man!" Blair smiled and looked at Pip. "If you don't mind, that'd be awesome. I know you're pretty good."

Pip grinned. "Well, I've been playing a while. Let's hear you play something."

Blair bounced and started playing a very fast version of kumbayah. Or at least it sounded like that in his brain.

Pip tried not to wince. "Were you trying for something like this?"

He beat out quick rendetion of Kumbaya.

"Oooh." Blair applauded graciously. "That sounds way less sucky!"

Pip bowed a little and thankfully noted that he could toss tact away. "Thank you," he said. "Let me see you make an F chord."

"That...." Blair shrugged and strummed out something while physical humming the letter F. "That would require me knowing what that is first. Sorry, man. I think I'm at the remedial level of playing."

Pip nodded. "Alright, let's start with the basics, then."

River heard the music. She liked music. "What are you playing?" she asked.

"Three blind mice." Blair smiled. "I think it's a nursery rhyme."

"Don't know it," River replied. "When and where are you from?"

"I think it has something to do with mice and a clock lots of running." Blair shrugged. "I'm from this time period, and I'm American. Although I grew up all over. How about you?"

"I'm from the future. Another solar system," River replied. "But I feel quite at home here."

((ooc: could River pick up the phone call from Phoebe from Blair's thoughts?))

"Really? That's awesome. I went to another solar system for a field trip a while back. Very cool." Blair bounced excitedly.

River grinned in reply. "Not mine though," she said. "Phoebe is nice," she added.

"Probably not, unless you've got Jedi in your solar system." Blair blinked at the statement and nodded. "Yeah, she is. Are you friends with her?"

"No Jedis where I come from," River said. "And I got to know Phoebe when she was a mermaid. But I like that she's a human now. She's a very kind person. I'm sure she understands about you and her boyfriend."

"You know about me and Bel?" Blair shifted uncomfortably. "Did you hear on the radio."

River thought it best not to mention how she knew. She just nodded, and let that be the reply to the first question.

"Well. How uncomfortable." Blair shook his head. "It was a total accident. Or the result of too much drinking. Or something. I'm really not Bel's type."

Oh great, now he was even saying it.
