The Gym, Tuesday afternoon

Nadia wasn't allowed to use her gun for a week, so instead she had a bo staff out and a practice dummy.

Her goal was to practice on the dummy without ending up 'killing' it.

So far . . . she wasn't doing so well at reaching her goal.

She had her headphones on around her neck so she could still hear anyone trying to sneak up on her coming into the gym even as she listened to her music.

Billy came in, looking to try out the dummies.

Nadia barely glanced up to see who it was. "Hi."

"the dummy. You were working him over pretty good there."

Nadia blinked. She hadn't quite killed it yet.

"Oh. No. Just . . . practicing."

Billy nodded. "Sometimes it's better not to hold back."

Nadia paused in her attack and blinked at Billy. "Yeah. Exactly."

"Mind if I beat up on his partner?" Billy asked, pointing to the other dummy.

Billy smiled slightly. "Thanks." He stretched a bit, then began to work on the dummy, starting slow, a few kicks and punches.

He held back especially with his prosthetic, not wanting to break the dummy.

Nadia noted the fact that he was holding back and shook her head. Well, she'd thought he understood, anyway.

As he went, his speed and force started to increase, as he continued to warm up.

The moves began to get more complex as well, as he struck with hand, foot, knee, and elbow in quick succession.

Nadia stepped back from her own dummy and leaned against her staff to watch.

"You're not bad."

"Thanks," Billy said, increasing his intensity a bit more. he was approaching his full speed and power, but wasn't quite there yet. "I had good teachers."

"No kidding. Do you spar?"

"On occaision yeah." billy smiled a bit, thinking of all the fights he's been in.

Having built up to it, he was now going all out on the dummy, just not quite being fierce about it. He wasn't quite ready to pretend it was his father. Yet.

And maybe he was showing off when he jumped up, spun around and smashed his foot into the head of the dummy with a back kick, then landed gracefully. Maybe.
