The Roof; Rather Late, Friday Night.

Chad was having difficulty sleeping. Not only did his body still seem to think it was on Japan-time, but he could swear his bed was creaking dangerously when he laid down on it as if groaning with complaint. That, and he was thinking about that audition. When he first saw the flyer, he thought he'd check it out just on a whim, see what other students were into music, that sort of thing. But the more he thought about it, the more he started to realize that, perhaps, he was really wanting to get in. Were there many other students who played bass? He imagined most of them who played probably played acoustic or electric, probably not bass. Or was that just his imagination transformed from hope? He wasn't very good, true, but he wasn't bad, either. If he was the only one, it was a sure thing he'd get it...if not...

...well, he'd better practise. So, finally having found his way to the roof, he sat with his guitar and headphones, practising to Primus blaring in his ears. If he could manage to do a decent job of keeping up to Les Claypool, this audition should be a breeze.

Chad wasn't sure if he recognized the melody that Pip started up on, but it wasn't too difficult to feel a bass line for it. After a moment of getting the rhythm, the feel, the groove, if you will, he started hammering something out.

Pip grinned. "Yeah, that's it, we should get all the guitar players up here sometime."

"Are there many others who play?"

Chad added after a thoughtful pause. "Any other bassists?"

"Well," Pip said. "I know for a fact that Nadia plays. I know this because I taught her. Demyx plays some sort of odd instrument that sounds like an electric guitar. Blair just started learning. I hear that Zero has a band and plays guitar and I think Pippi plays drums." He shrugged and went into a particularly complex bit. "I think you'd be the only bassist, thougg."

No. That wasn't a sigh of relief. Not at all. His thick fingers struggled to match the complexity. "Quite a collection," he commented. He could definately dig a massive roof orgy jam session.

"Yeah," Pip said. "I don't know what the range of singers is like, though. I'm a crap singer, myself. Too much smoking, probably."
