The Roof, Tuesday night

Billy stood on the edge of the roof, looking out towards the ocean, imagining he could hear the waved from where he stood.

Feeling homesick, Teddy went up to the roof to stretch his wings.

He stopped half-way through taking off his tee-shirt when he saw Billy. "I'm sorry, I didn't think anyone else was up here."

"Oh, no problem. I was just, I don't know, day dreaming."

Teddy shoved his shirt back down, hoping the darkness would hide his embarrassed blush.

"Ah."

Teddy paused, before blurting out, "I'm Teddy by the way!" He extended his hand towards Billy.

"Billy." he said, shaking his hand. "Are you new as well?"

"Yeah. That's actually why I came up here."

"This," He he said, waving his hands around wildly. "Can all be a bit much, you know? "

"Oh yeah." Billy said. "I know. But it's nice up here, peacefull."

Teddy nodded and looked down at the streets below.

He sighed heavily, already feeling more relaxed, no longer needing what he originally came up here to do.

He sat down and leaned against the ledge.

"You come up here a lot?"

"Second time so far. I meditated in the rain a few nights ago. You?"

"First time up here. But I think I may start coming up more often, it reminds me of home."

"REally? Where are you from?"

"New York." Teddy leaned his head back and closed his eyes. "Though it'll take me a while to get used to the lack of sirens and cars."

"I've been to New York." Billy mused. "long time ago when I was a kid. On my way to New Jersey. I do recall a lot of sirens."

Teddy grinned. "Yeah, that sounds like New York." Then he winced at his words. "No pun intended."

Billy smirked. "Puns are under appreciated. Well, some are."

Teddy nodded in agreement.

"So, then. You've heard of New Jersey and New York, so I'm going to assume you're from Earth. Anywhere in particular?"

"Not really. Most recently, not counting the...foster care home office in DC, I lived in TransCarpatia."

"TransCarpatia?" Teddy tilted his head to the side. "Where's that?"

"It's a small country in Eastern Europe, bordering Romania."

Teddy nodded knowingly, then shook his head and chuckled. "Yeah-no, never heard of it. Sorry."

If it had been in his world, it probably would have ended up on the news. Most likely in conjunction with Doctor Doom.

"Sokay, the inhabitants like their privacy. No cable though."

After suffienciently finding himself frightened out of the third floor common room, Chad ambled up toward the roof. It was either that, or go wondering around the town again, and, so far, his tours on the roof had, statistically, worked out better for him than his lurking in the park. Guitar case was in hand, headphones around his massive neck. He figured he'd either get some practise in that didn't disturb his still-sick roomie, or happen across another jam session.
