Thanks to a laundry...incident, Dawn was wearing the t-shirt she'd borrowed from Dean after the Meerkat cabin theft, which was way too long for her, and the skirt she'd stolen borrowed from Buffy before she left Cleveland, which was way too short. Not unlike Buffy, come to think of it.

Just so people would think it was intentional, though, she put up a small sign, hastily written on notebook paper and stuck to the door of the common room.

HAPPY PANTSLESS FRIDAY!

In other news, she was trying to learn her domesticated canine vocabulary for class on Monday.

Molly blinked at the sign before walking into the common room. She plopped down on a couch with her own vocabulary sheet for Monday.

"Hi, Dawn," she said. "I'm glad I wore shorts today because there was no way I would be taking off my pants."

On his way to Caritas, Jack was trolling the floors for no good reason when he saw the sign.

He had to stick his head in the door and ask the girl he'd never met, "Seriously? Pantsless day?"

"I can't believe I have to learn how to bark," Dawn muttered, stretching her legs out in front of her, "and I can't believe how long it's taking my stuff to dry. I put it in before class and it's still wet."

Pete studied the sign on the door.

For quite awhile.

"You tryin' to make some kind of statement?"

Dawn shrugged. "Sure, why not? Kilts need love too."

"Uh...I need more quarters for the dryer?" Dawn said, "Ooooor, there's the whole 'feel free to express yourself as you like' philosophy."

Bel happened to be passing through.

He saw the sign and stared at Dawn in bewilderment.

"Laundry issue," Dawn said, turning the page on her handout. "Also, hi."

Pete was just barely smart enough to realize that this was not inteded to be some kind of slight or reference to his own unfortunate incident from the first time he attended school.

"I can get behind that."

And with that, he dropped trou. Fortunately for all present, he was wearing long underwear.

Unfortunately, one of the buttons on the back flap was missing.

Jack grinned and looked down at his jeans. "I don't have a kilt on me, but I feel the need to participate. School spirt and all that." So saying, he stepped through the door, and stripped off his jeans, tossing them over one shoulder.

Through the magic of coincidence, he happened to be wearing boxers (http://scene.barenecessities.com.edgesuite.net/is/image/BareNecessities/m333manco?$productpage$&extend=1,1,1,1&bgcolor=221,221,221) today. Go figure. "I'm Jack Harkness, by the way," he said as he walked further into the room and grabbed a seat on the couch.

Dawn blinked and began to rethink the wisdom of this idea. "Nice long johns." Thankfully, she hadn't noticed the missing button yet.

"Maybe the machine is broken," Molly said looking at her vocabulary sheet. "I'm just worried we'll have to add in tail wagging."

Dawn admired the view for a minute, then remembered her manners. And her name. "Hi. I'm Dawn. Dawn...Summers. Nice to meet you, Jack."

Rory just kind of stood in the doorway for a moment before saying, "Was Shirtless Friday not enough?"

She straightned her knee-length skirt a bit nervously.

Dawn may have muttered something about Dean, the radio, and not doing anything with her tail. "Yeah, do you think we get prosthetic tails?"

"Variations on a theme," Dawn said, waving Rory into the room. "And you qualify."

Jack laughed at her reaction and might have stretched a little before replying. "Dawn Summers. Beautiful name. Are you one of the current crop of new students? Or have you been here forever, and I haven't been lucky enough to meet you?"

"Good," Rory sighed, going in and flopping on a couch. "I like this. Girls are relatively safe, and yet the boys have to strip down or wear kilts."

"Do you have to take your pants off to gain admittance to the room now?" he asked.

"I hope not," Molly said. "I think that would just make it worse. I'd end up concentrating so hard of getting the tail thing right that I'd mess up the barking and end up asking to be bitten. Literally."

Summer wandered into the common room of her own floor and blinked at the sign. "Huh?"

He stopped and looked at the sign. He carefully read all the words.

"Does that mean what I think it means?"

"I've been here since the summer," Dawn said, blushing slightly.
