3rd Floor Common Room: Saturday AM [9-9]

Lana couldn't lie in bed any longer and she was afraid if she got up and started buzzing around the room that she'd wake her roommate. So instead she went to the Common Room and busied herself cutting up a ton of fresh fruit that she'd brought and brewing up some coffee and tea for anyone who might be looking for some breakfast. She also set out a bunch of bagels and muffins she'd picked up.

And at least here if she was singing a bit while she worked she wouldn't be disturbing anyone.

"Interesting," Lana said and meant it. She had to make a conscious effort not to reach out and touch them.

Schrodigner nodded. "And no, they aren't a hat. They're my real ears."

"I can tell," Lana said seriously. "By the way they move. Hats don't do things like that."

Schrodinger nodded. "I just keep expecting people to ask whether they're real or not."

"I've been at Fandom long enough that ears like yours aren't a shock," Lana admitted. "Makes it easier to accept what my eyes tell me is true rather than trying to make lots of weird rationalizations."

Schrodinger shrugged. "I hear that I am not that unusual by Fandom standards."

Lana grinned. "Not as unusual as some," she agreed. "Far more unusual than someone like me."

Schrodinger smiled. "Oh. So ordinary, then?"

"Utterly ordinary. Not one magical or non-human thing about me," she said with a smile.

"And you've lead a completely unmagical and non-human life up until coming here, I suppose?" Schrodinger asked.

"Well, there are the mutants back home," Lana admitted. "So it's not like I haven't experienced crazy stuff. But I'm dead ordinary."

"Oh? What kind of mutants?"

"All different kinds," Lana said quietly. "It seems to be caused by the meteor rock. Some of them change shape or turn into bug-people, others can split into two people."

She shuddered a little just thinking about it.

"Meteor rock? What's so special about meteor rock?"

Depending on Lana's observational skills, she might have noticed Schrodinger rummage around in his jacket pocket, and then come out empty.

Lana saw noticed Schrodinger fish around in his pocket, but didn't see him pull anything out. She shrugged a little and answered the question. "No one seems to have any idea. Just some people seem to develop very extreme abilities after coming into contact with it. And almost all of them turn to evil."

"Because of the meteor rocks?"

"That's what people think. It seems to be the only thing they have in common."

"So what are these things made of, exactly? The meteor rocks?"

Lana shook her head. "I don't know. They're green rocks from outer space."

"Are they only from where you're from?

Lana had to think about that for a moment. "As far as I know, they're only in the area around Smallville. I have one with me, if you want to see." She pointed to the polished green stone on the necklace she was wearing.

Schrodinger leaned in and lokked. "Cool. Did, like, a meteor hit there?"

"On my neck? No. This is a piece of the meteor that killed my parents."
