Outside the Dorms; Sunday Morning

In leui of giving his roommate and his well-protected girlfriend some privacy, Chad made his way outside and found a nice spot underneath a tree. Open guitar case spread out leisurely beside him, he cradled his bass against him as he idly plucked to the music playing through his headphones. Might as well get some practise in. He'd hate to just end up disappointing the band, or feeling that he'd just gotten in merely because he was the only bass player who auditioned. So he'd have to start getting a little more serious about it.

Chad inspected the dog a little more; yeah, he did look alright, just tired. "If it keep up, wouldn't hurt to get him checked out." Chad started scritching behind Mizu's ears. "Just looks sleepy, really." Maybe there was something keeping Mizu up at night. Maybe Ranma's roommate snored...or Ranma snored, and it kept him up. Or maybe Mizu was just a nocturnal puppy, and it was bedtime for him in the morning. There were lots of reasons, Chad imagined.

Chad nodded, and continued to pet Mizu idly. Although he started to wonder if maybe he should stop. If Mizu got too comfortable and sleepy, then he wouldn't want to leave Chad's lap. Not that he minded, of course, but Ranma might.

With a puppy present, Chad had nearly forgotten about his guitar, and looked toward it as if seeing it for the first time for a fleeting second. "Huh? Oh. Yeah. Gotta practise more."

Chad nodded. "Yup. Zero and the Teal Deer. I think that's what we decided on. They had auditions the first week, I think. I was the only bass player, so I got in." Although he still liked to tell himself it was his charming good looks and devilish bass riffs. Ha. Right.

Chad quirked an eyebrow at Ranma. Maybe he just wasn't good at picking out the details. "Just had auditions the first week," he repeated, "so it's new."

"Uh..." Chad looked up, scratching his head as he thought. "I'm not sure if we have a date for the first one yet." Either they didn't, or he had completely forgotten it. Which was problematic, definately.

Man, he should really find out. That was kind of important information. After a bit more head scratching, Chad shrugged. "The other members are all in some of my classes, they'll let me know if one's coming up."

This was almost....incredible. Someone was actually less talkative than he was. Chad supposed there was a first time for everything, but it almost inspired a competetive nature inside of him and he kept his response to a grunt and a nod. He could deal with the fact that Ranma could be a good match for him in strength, but he wasn't going to let him win out in the not-talking thing.

At least Chad knew he'd still have the stoic thing. Ranma definately showed a lot more emotion that Chad ever did, even if most of the time it was cutely befuddled or blushing.

...And Chad still had bigger feet.
