4th Floor Common Room -- late morning

Dean was up not early but at least it was still morning by the clock. Barely. For whole minutes yet. So he felt totally justified in making breakfasty type foods like bacon and eggs and hotcakes and calling it brunch.

He may have been humming under his breath as he cooked because all in all, things were going pretty well. He didn't want to use the phrase 'disgustingly happy' but it probably wouldn't be inappropriate.

Jake grinned and sat still. If pretty girls wanted to stare into her eyes, she didn't really mind it very much. "I just sort of tell my cells what I want and they do it. It's tricky the first time, but then it's easier. You can look if you want, I don't care."

Evie, utterly oblivious to the implications, smiled happily at Jake and said, "That's fascinating. Is it magic? You said you were a shapeshifter. I should *love* to be able to change my hair color by thinking about it."

Jake gave her hair red stripes, which took a moment because that wasn't something she's considered doing before. "No, it's... I'm a mutant, like Molly? Or Jamie? Only my ability is talking to my cells. Well, sort of. I don't really hold conversations or anything."

Evie marveled at Jake's hair, then frowned in concentration. "You have some kind of difference in your body, that allows this? Some new cell or type of blood? Interesting. And I don't believe I've met Molly yet. She can change her eye and hair color too?" And her gender?
