Fourth Floor Common Room, Evening

Billy read the instructions on the pizza rolls carefully, then made sure he set the timer right. There were cookies, chips and soda set out already.

The Television was tuned to CNN

"In other news, the FBI has revealed it's number two on the famous Most Wanted list. This man's existence was previously classified as Top Secret, but with the recent dismanteling of his organization, by another recently declassified group, we now know that the man known only as Cobra Commander, is still at large..."

Billy almost dropped the tray, and stared at the TV. They declassified Cobra? And from the sound of things, GIJoe?

Come share in the foody goodness, keep Billy from burning the pizza rolls or change the channel! He really won't mind.

Naomi was wondering past the common room and decided to stop by for a little while, "hey," she said when she noticed that Billy was in there.

"Hey!" Billy said, setting the pizza rolls to cookin'. "Hungry?"

Naomi nodded, "yeah," she replied

"Well, help yourself, there's chips, cookies, soda, and eventually, hopefully edible pizza rolls."

Naomi smiled as she took some chips, cookies and a soda, "thanks,"

"So what've you been up to?"

"Not a great deal," she replied, "classes have kept me busy and I've been studying a fair bit, I've also been emailing a friend from back home," she paused, "what about yourself?"

"Slowly exploring, practising being social."

"The social thing is something that I've been trying to work on as well," Naomi replied, "I don't think I'm doing a very good job at it though,"

Billy shrugged. "I've found if I just wander around the common rooms long enough I'll wind up talking to someone."

"Yeah, I also find that if I eat lunch more often then not someone else is eating there as well and I end up talking to them there,"

Billy'd wound up more often than not eating alone in the cafeteria. "That works too."

"I mean I know I've only been here for a few weeks but I guess these kind of things take time," Naomi replied

"Guess so." Billy nodded. The oven dinged. "I think the pizza rolls are done."

"What kind of pizza rolls are they?" Naomi asked, it had been a while since she had, had any sort of pizza

Billy looked at the box. "Uh, pepperoni."

"it smells great," Naomi told him

"Well that's a good sign." he smirked. He took them out of the oven and with a spatula moved them onto a plate. "Looks like it's just us, so, take as many as you want."

Naomi picked up a couple, waited for a bit until they had cooled down and took a bite, "it's good," she said after she had finished the first bite

Billy had totally not waited until Naomi had tried one before he ate one.

"glad you like 'em, this is my first attempt at cooking."

"I haven't cooked anything before," Naomi said, "back home most of our cooking is done by the replicator except for a few meals that mom makes homemade,"

Billy'd very rarely had anything really cooked for him in recent years. He'd done most of his eating either from take-out, or in a mess hall of some sort.

"I'm used to cafeteria style food myself."

"It's only been in the past couple of years where we could use the replicator without having to worry about rations," Naomi replied, "like I mentioned before my uncle was the ships cook so I'm used to a variety of different foods,"

"A friend of one of my foster father's was a chef." Billy mused.

"I'm guessing this person was qualified?" Naomi asked, "because my uncle certainly wasn't,"

Billy snickered. "Oh yeah, gourmet and everything."

"I think the people on Voyager would have liked to have a qualified cook," Naomi replied, "he tried but he could sometimes be too creative when it came to cooking,"

"Well, to quote, or at least paraphrase the big galoot, Cooking, like any art, comes from the heart. You think the inventor of ice cream was going by the book?"
