The Roof, Friday evening

John trudged up to the roof, thinking.

Not so much thinking as trying not to think. Trying not to think about the imposter professor, not to think about Syd, not thinking about everyone else who left.

Always leaving.

John stepped up on the ledge, toes hanging over.

Self-fulfilling prophesy said he'd live to defeat Skynet. Didn't say if he'd be directing from the battlefront or from a wheelchair.

He looked down at the ground 6 floors below. He hocked a loogie to see how long it took.

"It means, that whatever I do, I have already done. Or will already have done, because I've already done it. What I've done in my future sets my past."

He closed his eyes. "I've been doing it all night. Have you missed it?"
