The Roof, Friday evening

John trudged up to the roof, thinking.

Not so much thinking as trying not to think. Trying not to think about the imposter professor, not to think about Syd, not thinking about everyone else who left.

Always leaving.

John stepped up on the ledge, toes hanging over.

Self-fulfilling prophesy said he'd live to defeat Skynet. Didn't say if he'd be directing from the battlefront or from a wheelchair.

He looked down at the ground 6 floors below. He hocked a loogie to see how long it took.

roof's open for emo-y purposes!

Teddy nodded and looked out over the campus.

He glanced at Chad's guitar and went ahead with a slightly less knee-capping-y topic. "You're in that band with Agnes, right? What'd you guys call yourselves again?"

Chad nodded. "I think we settled on Zero and the Teal Deer."

Teddy raised an eyebrow. "Do I even want to know how exactly 'Teal Deer' came up?" Teddy asked before narrowing his eyes and continuing, "Were there gremlins involved in this process?"

Chad paused his string-adjustment to look up thoughtfully. "It was just suggested," he recalled after a moment, "and I don't recall any gremlins, no."

Teddy looked thoughtful, "Huh."

He shrugged and gestured at the guitar. "So what can you play?"

[identity profile] senor-chado.livejournal.com 2006-09-16 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Chad shrugged. "It's bass, so it's not very hard, but I thought myself, so I guess I'm kind of limited." He strummed a short chord. "I just listen, and play what I hear, usually."

"Cool."

Teddy resisted the urge to poke at the guitar. What was with him and poking things around Chad? Weird.

"I'm so musically disinclined, I think metronomes go off beat when I walk by."

Chad grunted; it was his laughing grunt. "But you can work a metaphore pretty good."

[identity profile] notthehulk.livejournal.com 2006-09-16 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
"See, I have no clue what that is," Teddy said. "So I guess I'm gonna have to trust you on that."

The urge to poke at the guitar was rising. Damn it! Was this Chad's real secret power? To drive Teddy slowly insane?

The grunting turned into a bit of a snort. Still laughing, though it was hard to tell. "I'm probably using the wrong word, anyway. Might've actually been a simile." He shrugs, played a quick chord that sounded like the sort of tune they played when someone failed a question on a game show.

Teddy grinned. Gosh he hoped he wouldn't have to mercilessly beat this guy later on.

"See that? That was cool. Can you do anything that you hear?"

"Not everything, no, but I can usually get close enough that its recognizable."
