1st floor lobby, monday morning

John was awake early for once, and eager to start the week off right by getting to his First Period class on time. No detentions was a plus. It was like he was ignored in Ethics, which was just the way he liked it.

He saw the plastic sheeting gone, hte construction mess gone, the "KEEP OUT" signs gone...as well as his room. He sighed a bit.

Instead, there was a garage. He peered in. Bikes. Bicycles, actually. And a few vespas? He walked in, exploring.

Oh, this was sweet as hell. He could finally have space to keep his bike, instead of keeping it up in his room. The storage space at the Danger Room was fine and all, but... ya can't work on your ride when the door's locked.

He'll be right back.

John strapped on his helmet, put on his best protective gear, and walked his motorcycle out of his room.

Hrm... engine or gravity? Probably some OSHA law against running gas engines without ventilation, so gravity it would be.

And who'd want to take the elevator when there were all those beautiful stairs?

Ranma raises an eye as he sees John. "Need help carrying that...?"

"Oh, there's no carrying here. I'm-a let gravity take care of that." John's grin tries to meet itself somewhere near his vertebre as he points his motorcycle (okay, so it was really a dirt bike, but... c'mon, motorcycle sounds so much more manly) at the stairs.

"That... sounds like a stupid idea."

John cinched his helmet tighter. "Dunnit?" There's that grin again.

"I take it you wanna try it next?"

"Welll... I mean... I guess I do..."

"Heh. I'll see you on th ground floor."

"I'll... see you there."

John came zooming down the stairs, whooping it up and careening from the one staircase to the other.

"WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"

John's grin was so big you'd swear his cheeks were flapping from the wind resistance as he went from one staircase to the other.

John's momentum carried him down the length of the first floor right to the door to the garage, where he laid the world's longest tire patch when he hit the brake.

Or he would have, if not for the artfully placed carpet piece in front of one of the doors that was perfectly placed for him to use as a slider instead of laying feet of burned rubber.

WOW. He'd HAVE to do that again.

Just then, the elevator pinged, opening inviting doors, doors that would lead all the way to the 6th floor, which had stairs all the way to the first floor.

Decisions, decisions.

Ranma appears from inside the elevator. "I could hear you from inside the elevator!"

"Man, it was GREAT! I haven't had that much fun on a bike in years!" He unstapped his helmet and thrusth both hands in the air. He stopped short, however, of waving them like he just didn't care.

"You better hope no one saw that! You'd probably get detention."

"I have Ethics. I'm chin-deep in detentions. This? So worth it. WOw. WOnder if I can get Shorty McElric to make a ramp off the roof or something."

"Elric...? Do you mean... Al..? I don't think he'd do it.."

"He might if I give him first dibs."

"Hrm... might make it safer by using a go-cart. 4 wheels, roll cage, should be safer."

"You're nuts!"

"Yeah, dirt bike's better."

"I never said that!"

"But it's true. So you prefer the go-cart?"

"Well yes. BUT you shouldn't be barrel~~roll~~ing down the STAIRS or off the roof!"

"Well, it's just not safe to do it out the windows, and the tires on the bike won't hold vertical. Stairs or a roof ramp's the only way to go. Physics."

"Gee... pardon the stupid sugestion but what about OUTSIDE?"

"That's what the roof ramp's for, silly. Wouldn't make sense to put a ramp INside. That'd be redundant, what with the stairs."

"... You are SUCH an idiot!

"Yep. it's fun though. POt, meet Kettle."

".. Why're you talking about kitchens now...?" Thankfully he SO doesn't get the reference to the american phrase.

"Dude. Colloquialisms to English Dictionary. I think they have one at Sundries."

"So just tell me what it meant."

"American phrase. Means you can't call someone an idiot if you're an idiot as well."

"... DON'T CALL ME AN IDIOT!"

"Then don't call me an idiot in the first place. I mean, namecalling isn't gonna get you at the top of hte list when the ramp's ready, dude."

"Come on John you're not SERIOUS are you...?"

"If I can build it, I'm gonna. I mean, do you know how fun that is?"

"No...?"
