Fifth floor common room, Thursday morning

Oblivious to whatever chaos she may have created between two of her friends, Nadia was humming softly to herself and bouncing slightly as she set about cooking up some empanadas.

Her favorite part was pouring in the beer and the shortening.

Every now and then, she'd pause to sing softly into her spoon as though it was a microphone.

She'd put up a quickly written sign on the finished empanadas on the table:

Free empanadas!
Participation in blind taste test is voluntary but encouraged

[ooc: open! empanadas contain whatever the heck you want to mod them to contain. At least one will be chocolate, marshmallow, pineapple, and onion]

In a better mood than he'd been in yesterday, Anders followed that unerring Sense O'Food up to the fifth floor.

"Oooh. Empanadas?"

Then he saw the sign. And started snickering.

Anders plunked down onto the couch. "Yeah, I can wait. Don't want to deprive everybody else of the surprise, do I?"

Walter grinned at Anders. "The dorms are just full of food, aren't they?"

"Yep," Anders replied, giving Walter a jaunty if completely off-kilter salute. "Why do you think I'm always roaming 'em?"

"I thought you were stalking gremlins in search of that next bite." Walter had another bite of his chocolate and pineapple empanada and opened the fridge to pull out a jug of milk just in case the next one had special sauce in it.

"...This can only end in tears," Pip said.

Anders balled up a paper towel and tossed it lightly at Pip. "Aw, c'mon, man, a little faith in your friends, here!"

"It's not my friends I doubt, it's blind taste tests."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aw. You say that like there might be something evil lurking inside the empanadas."

Deadpan. Totally, totally deadpan.

"Yes. And I don't fancy trying my luck in case I get something that's like... marshmellow and onion."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter chose not to respond directly to that.

"Good morning."

[identity profile] cyclopeanmerc.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"Morning Walter," Pip said. "How's tricks?"

[identity profile] cyclopeanmerc.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not mine. I'm not having one," Pip said.

Walter wandered in, spotted the sign, and grabbed an empanada because he couldn't very well appear to be afraid of Nadia's cooking.

Appearances quite possibly being everything in this case.

"Good morning."

He even took a bite of the empanada without going to the fridge for milk first. Alas, earwax. Hm. Chocolate and... pineapple? Not terrible.

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter's reaction appeared to be favorable. "And to think, I was just going to have leftovers for breakfast."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think so. What's new with you?"

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-09-21 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Pippi grabbed an empanada and broke it open to inspect the filling.

"Morning!"
