The gym, Friday morning

Aeryn is in the gym a little early, mostly because she wants to get the feel of the new gloves before anything else. She slips them on, practices making a fist until she's comfortable with it, then tries them out wth a hit to the punching bag. They take some getting used to, but they're really not bad. She can continue to test them out until Luke arrives.

Jamie entered the gym, giving Aeryn a friendly wave, and proceeded to start the gathering up of all things garbage.

Aeryn gives him a wave back before going back to her workout. For a minute. Then she's watching Jamie and frowning.

Jamie looks up from his work to see Aeryn looking at him. "Yes?"

"What are you doing?" she asks.

Luke came into the gym a few minutes later. "Good morning!" he said before beginning to warm up.

"One day I'll stop wanting to ask why you're so cheerful in the morning," she greets him.

Luke grinned. "I don't have to head out to fix vaporator equipment. That's a reason enough to smile."

Aeryn smiles back a little. "Not a fan of tech work?"

"Oh, I like the mechanics of it," Luke said. "I just didn't like the 'standing out under two suns fixing the same damn thing' part."

"Making the world a prettier place." Jamie said flatly. "And you?"

"Ah. I can definitely see your point there," says Aeryn, shuddering a little.

"Waiting for Luke," she says. "The gym needs to be pretty?"

"Everything has to be pretty," Jamie groaned. "That is now my assignment in life. To make things beautiful."

Luke nodded. "Exactly." He glanced down at Aeryn's gloves. "Will I need a pair of those today?"

"How did you get that new assignment in life?" asks Aeryn, trying not to be amused.

"It wouldn't be a bad idea," she says, nodding towards the lockers. "There are a few pairs in there, if you'd like."

"Trying to be nice to our Ethics teacher," Jamie grumbled. "What kind of person doesn't enjoy thoughtful gifts, helpful suggestions, hugs and Klondike bars?"

"Someone who blows up planets, maybe?" she suggests.

Luke trotted over to the locker and returned slipping his hands into a pair of gloves.

After a few moments of work he held his hands out for Aeryn's inspection. "Did I do it correctly?"

"Yeah right," Jamie said rolling his eyes. "If that's the case then he really needs a hug."

Aeryn pauses. "He really did do it," she says. "But I suppose daring to hug him is your choice."

"As long as you don't put them on the wrong hands, you should be fine," she says, looking them over and nodding her approval.

"I think that's just a rumor," Jamie said shaking his head. "Honestly? I think he's just repressed and is just crying out for attention."

Aeryn just kind of stares at him.

Luke snorted. "I think I figured that part out," he said with a wry smile. "But Parker told me not to jump off the roof--like this would ever occur to me."

He wasn't going to outright ask if he was putting out "wow, I'm dumb" vibes.
