Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday Afternoon

It was Sunday.

Sunday meant football.

Therefore Bel was sprawled on the common room couch, watching the games. Right now the Vikings vs. the Bears was on. Today Bel was a Vikings fan. No reason.

After finishing her phone call (http://community.livejournal.com/fh_alumni/23523.html), Cally wandered into the common room.

"Heeeeey," she said, plopping down on a couch.

Bel passed the bag of chips. "Hey," he said. "What's up?"

"The opposite direction of down," Cally said. "Got any more questions?"

River appeared in the common room. Having just woken up after sleeping since Friday she was starving. She helped herself to a huge bowl of ice cream and sprinkled some peanuts on top. She also made an identical bowl for Berthold who was following her every step.

While eating she took a seat on the edge of the couch and tilted her head, looking at the TV screen.

Bertold curled up at her feet under his blanket.

"It's football," Bel supplied, giving River a wary eye as she settled in.

"Oh," River said. "Why is it called football?" she asked, swallowing another spoonful of ice cream.

Berthold sniffled.

Marie was bored so she wandered down to the common room.

"Hey, Bel. More football? Who are we rooting for today?"

"Vikings, but they just lost," Bel said, scowling at the TV. "This is Seattle versus New York Giants. Haven't decided yet who to root for."

"Which one has the pretty uniforms?" Marie asked.

Briar wandered into the common room and nodded at the people there before heading for food.

"Hey, Briar," Bel said with a wave.

"Hey. What are you watching?"

Nadia wandered by, but paused at the sounds of the television.

"What are you watching?"

"Football," Bel said. "Seahawks versus the Giants."

Nadia frowned. "I've never heard of those teams, where--oh." She caught sight of the TV. "That kind of football."

Walter wandered in to the common room looking for something to do. Watching American football was not particularly high on the list, though.

He flopped down on the couch and set his books on the coffee table. "Hey."

"Hey, Walter," Bel said. "Chips?"

"I never say no to food. Even misnamed food." Walter took some of the proffered chips.

He didn't seem overly hostile. "How are you?"

Nadia smiled. "Hey, Walter!"

Oh, what the hell, it was worth a shot.

Cally sniffled as best she could summon at a moment's notice. "I... have some bad news."

Anders wandered up with an iced blended mocha from the Perk and leaned against the doorframe for a few minutes, watching, before he announced, "I still think that frakking field is way too big."
