Cally did not have amazing culinary skills, nor a lot of money to splurge and buy enough food to feed an army. She did, however, have a box of Count Chocula, and had poured herself a big bowl before leaving it out for anyone else who wanted any.

She was in her PJs and slippers, because she could. Camped out in front of the TV, watching more Rainbow Randolph reruns.

"Friends come in all sizes..." she sang along between big bites of chocolatey goodness.

Nadia wandered in around second period, after her prophesy class.

"Hey, Cally."

"Hey," Cally said, with a little finger wave. "If you want some Count Chocula, there's some in the kitchen area."

Nadia wasn't entirely certain what that was, but decided to give it a shot. "So. What's up?"

"The opposite direction of down?" So what if she'd used that line yesterday. It was still funny. In a non-funny stupid way.

"Huh?" Had she gotten the phrase wrong?

"Sorry, dumb joke," Cally said. "Mainly just killing time before Interstellar Relations. Rainbow Randolph is helping me do that."

"Oh. You had me worried. I thought I'd remembered the phrase wrong. English isn't an easy language, you know." Nadia watched a bit of the show. "Okay, is it just me or is that guy a little bit creepy?"

"He is," Cally admitted, eating another spoonful of cereal. "Smoochy the Rhino is much less creepy, but I never seem to find his show on."

"Smoochy the Rhino? I don't think I know that one."

"He's... strangely non-sell-out-y," Cally said. "He actually tries to convey a good message."

"Isn't that what children's shows are for? I mean, Randolf there might be creepy, but he's telling everyone to appreciate different kinds of people, right?"

"Yeah, but he's also hocking enough merchandise that he probably has enough money to buy a small country," Cally said.

". . . and that's wrong?"

"It's exploitative?"

"So he . . . shouldn't make any money?"

"That's totally not what I'm saying," Cally said. "It'd be one thing if he was selling stuff that was... good and wholesome, right? But half that crap is exactly that. Crap."

"Oh. But he's saying it's not crap."

"Exactly. He's using his influence as this beloved character for... evil," Cally said.

Cally stopped midchew.

"It's funny?"

"But aren't you supporting evil by watching it, and therefore seeming to support what he's doing?"

Cally frowned. "I'm not buying the merchandise?"

"But you're giving him ratings. Which can really only encourage him, right?"

"Technically, these are syndicated reruns," Cally pointed out.

River appeared in the common room, looking for breakfast. She gave Cally's bowl of Count Chocula a funny look, and began to fry some eggs.
