After Criminal Justice, Tyler went back outside and set up the voting table for the homecoming court.

No, he doesn't know how he gets roped into these things either. He decided it was ironic. In any case, there are slips of paper for people to select the Homecoming Court, and an additional sign-up sheet for events at the carnival. Tyler flipped through a copy of Scientific American as he waited to see if he could answer any questions.

Marie stopped by on her way dress shopping to vote.

"Hey, Tyler! Hope you get a good turn out today."

"Me too," Tyler said. "A few people have already stopped by." He frowned. "Isn't there usually a big game for homecoming?"

"Yeah, it's usually a big football game," Marie told him. "But we don't have a football team."

"That would explain it," Tyler said. "Are the cheerleaders going to do anything anyhow?"

"Not that I've heard," Marie said. "But I missed a few practices."

"It's not like you guys have games to practice for anymore anyhow," Tyler shrugged.

"True," Marie nodded. "Are you planning to start basketball up again in the winter?"

"I kind of figure it's someone else's turn," Tyler said. "But if English or someone does it, I'll play. Are you thinking you'll stick with cheerleading all year?"

"I haven't decided yet," Marie admitted. "I really need to talk to Buffy. Lana and Phoebe don't think my mutation should matter, but I'm not one hundred percent convinced."

Tyler tilted his head. "You can't touch people, right?," he asked gingerly. "I think it'd be okay unless you're tossing the other cheerleaders around. Or brawling. But yeah, anytime things get physical, there's that risk."

Marie nodded and held up her gloved hands. "Yep. Jamie ended up in a coma for three days when it started. And I was a flyer, but I think if I stop doing that, I should still be able to cheer."

Tyler put Marie on his mental list of people not to screw with.

"You should," he agreed. "At least try. If you love something, there's no reason to give it up."

"I just don't want to hurt anyone else," Marie said. "But we'll see."

[ooc: *does not ponder how Marie would handle Tyler's multiple personalities...*]

"I am definitely," Tyler said with the hint of a smile, "On the side that says hurting people is bad."

He manages not to add the "most of the time."

[OOC: Oooh, plot bunny?]

Marie smiled back. "It seems like most of the people here fall into that category," she said.

"Are you going to the dance on Friday?"

Tyler shrugged. "I should, for the Student Council thing. Don't have a date, though. You're going with Jamie?"

"Yep," Marie's smile got a little bigger. "In fact, I'm supposed to be going dress shopping today."

"Have fun with that," Tyler said. "I used to know a girl who wore a lot of vintage bridesmaid's dresses, but I don't think that's your style."

"I'm just hoping I can find something that looks nice and covers a decent amount of skin," Marie admitted.

"I'm sure you'll find something," Tyler said. He didn't actually pay much attention to girl's fashions. "Or you could dress like Professor Vader. Jamie seems to like him, and it's totally a skin-free look."

Marie blinked. "Is that the teacher that keeps giving Jamie detention?"

Tyler snorted. "He is earning those detentions -- it's hysterical. But way suicidal of him. Vader's not a nice person." It was clear he kind of admired the suicidal thing.

Marie sighed. "Well, he promised not to do anything stupid that will keep him from attending the dance at least."

It was clear she had a differing opinion than Tyler about the whole thing.

"That's all a girl can ask for," Tyler said. "Thanks for stopping by this morning, Marie."

JOhn stops by. "No cookies?"

"No food," Tyler said. "Sorry if it ruins your day."

"Aw, man, it totally did. Now I'm not voting for you," John said with a grin.

Tyler grinned back, ferally. "Well, gee, that's too bad, but I didn't know you were a sophomore to start with."

For anyone with nothing better to do than hang around and lobby for votes, etc.

And now when I remember to vote with my sophomore character, it's from the wrong account! (Those should have been from Hermione.) I lose at homecoming.

It's cool, I added those votes to the tally as being from Hermione.
